A.D.Deertz

Berlin based menswear label A.D.Deertz is a Berlin based casual menswear label that specializes in modern classics. Each article is made in a small series.

The enterprise was founded in the year 2000, by designer Wibke Deertz, to bridge her passion for creating with a compulsive need to travel. In practice, this means that entire collections are literally born in places such as Buenos Aires, Hanoi, and Bangkok. Some of the most recent pieces have been made in Portugal. Deertz spends months in every new location – carefully choosing fabrics, adopting

local manufacturing methods, all the while exchanging skills and collaborating with regional professionals. While staying in Argentina she worked side by side with a Bolivian Indigenous family that was living illegally in Buenos Aires, in Bangkok with a second generation fabric trading and production company run by an Indian family. The people that Deertz meets and the stories that she collects along the way, are the fuel for inspiration and infuse her work with that something so uniquely hers. A.D.Deertz is all about making laid back, unpretentious, timeless, quality products. In her own words: "I want to make clothes that look like the guy who wears them had them for years – and they're his favorite things." Deertz no longer binds her collections to quarterly seasons and instead focuses on perfecting her classics. This also means that new designs are created at a healthy tempo, without the need to be rushed in for the next sale cycle. The number of pieces is usually determined by the amount of a fine fabric acquired during one of Deertz's expeditions. The A.D.Deertz store is located in the Mitte district of Berlin and is the currently the exclusive outlet for the label.

Life under construction 🚧 It got a bit dusty in the shop 😢due to full-on construction in the building and unfortunately I had to close the shop for a few weeks. Re-opening soon end of April!! Stay tuned!! New items are coming online these days so stay connected. 📡

The most fun of running a brand and a shop are the fabric sourcing trips to Italy. Selecting the best from this flood of leftovers , making 100 decisions a day and taking nice lunch breaks.

This is how we do it - with joy, dedication and friendship.
Most of the A.D.Deertz products are manufactured in Toruń . I work with the same workshop since about 20! years ! It is run by and previously her father. It is a small place of 7 women and they deliver excellent quality and dedication. It is so important to me to work in with joy and in friendship because only together we can succeed . Running a small business is intense and the work never stops therefore it is essential to make it fun and keep on going with what we are good at.
