“While initially designing The Victoria shirt, I was already heavily influenced by/sort of obsessed with 1800’s fashion. The structure of each piece, the volume of the fabrics in different areas, the cinched waist (also influenced by Christan Dior’s Bar Jacket) and the intricacy of every single detail, from the buttons to the pleats and embroidery. I wanted to create a shirt for the Tailored Edit collection, but I didn’t want it to just be any shirt. Having that in mind, I started drawing different sketches of how I can make the piece versatile as well. I ended up drawing this shirt and only later after putting it on & going out with it did I realise I created something so heavily influenced by that era. I was so happy with it & this shirt is now one of my favourite pieces I created. It’s so interesting how you can get so influenced by centuries of fashion that other designers have created and then you end up with a blend of different influences in 1 piece. “
