Taking Trinidad and Tobago to Toronto, one story at a time.

This time, we’re taking a closer look at the Toco crab illustration and the stories hidden within it.

Every design in this collection is my way of sharing a different perspective on Trinidad and Tobago before bringing it to the Trinbago Toronto Festival this August.

A fitting soundtrack for this one.

A few years ago, I had the opportunity to create this piece for Trinidad All Stars as they prepared for Panorama Finals.

What starts as sketches, ideas, and countless hours behind my digital canvas, eventually becomes something much bigger, a design worn with pride by hundreds of people on one of the biggest stages in our culture.

Watching the band perform in the final piece never gets old.

As creators, we’re constantly inventing. Not just designs, but ways to tell stories, celebrate culture, and bring people together.

Still one of my favourite projects.

Recently challenged myself to approach a Maracas Bay design from a completely different perspective.

From the illustration process,
to plotting, weeding and layering the final details by hand, this piece reminded me why I fell in love with creating in the first place.

Throw Back Thursdays

A tribute to Winston Bailey, The Mighty Shadow.

This project was a joy to work on from beginning to end. The energy of the music, the movement, the rhythm, and the spirit behind “Dingolay” made the creative process feel alive from the very start.

Though Shadow is no longer with us physically, his energy still lives on through the music, through the culture, and through all of us who continue to dance, create, play, and celebrate his legacy.

Special thanks to the ProMan Starlift team for trusting Darius Designs to be part of this journey and for allowing us to help bring this vision to life.

Good music is timeless.
And Shadow’s spirit still dances 🕺🏿🕺🏿🕺🏿🕺🏿
