MadCap Cosplays, Rue Viollet le Duc, Pierrefonds (2026)

I'm Sequoia, otherwise known as MadCapCosplays, and I've been cosplaying for over seven years. I grew up in a theater environment and have been passionate about costuming from a young age. I was delighted to discover the cosplay community where costumes come to life with the spirit of a well-beloved character! I make all of my cosplays and am a seasoned seamstress, but I most enjoy building props

from EVA foam and random thingamajigs (such as the salad tongs, eyelash curlers, and nuts and bolts built into my Edward Scissorhand props).

We had SUCH a lovely time at the Oregon Renaissance Faire!! I dream of this event all year every year... and Next Con: Hiatus till 2027 made it possible for me to go this time (I am forever grateful)! 🩷🌼🦎

He made our Rapunzel and Flynn Rider outfits himself... and we were joined by Corry Harline | Voice ActoCorry Harline | Voice ActorT. as our Maximus! Amelia T. much fun trinket trading with our themed charms (Glow in the Dark Flower Petals and Suns from myself, Frying Pans from Flynn, Chameleons from Pascal, and Horseshoes from Maximus!) and taking photos with everyone! We were also able to spend time with our fairy friend Everest throughout the weeEverestich was wonderful as well. 😃

I'm always a big fan of the joust (World Tournament Of ChampiWorld Tournament Of Championswhich wasEquestrian Chaoso managed to make it to the after-party this time and got front row seats to the fire show, which I've always wanted to see and was INCREDIBLE. Totally mind-blowing (Fuegoscuro Entertainment)!Fuegoscuro Entertainmenty snacks (peep me eating my caramel apple out of my convenient frying pan)! 😂 We also got some gorgeous Turkish Delight at the after-party! 😋

And then at the very end of the Faire the King and the Duke beckoned us over for their Closing show full of wonderfully-whimsical performances and uplifting messages to take home in our hearts as we navigate through these difficult times - and my friend (Corry Harline | Voice ActoCorry Harline | Voice Actorof them I had to share!

A truly grand experience was had by all. ☺️

Oh... and why does Rapunzel's wig look so good on Flynn Rider's outfit? Someone please explain. 😩

Oh Wicked... My heart and soul. 🩷💚 Glinda and Elphie my beloveds. 🩷💚 Nothing could have prepared me for the way these movies have touched the very fibre of my being. I've loved these songs since I was a little girl in our school's teeny tiny Glee club singing Defying Gravity as a solo for our talent show and I've loved it sitting in the West End theatre bawling my eyes out at intermission and I've loved both parts of these cinematic masterpieces so much!! Both Elphaba and Glinda are exceptionally-written, complex, deep female characters that resonate for myself and so many women and the political landscape of this movie feels as poignant now as it does every time I watch this storyline unfold.

I would have given ANYTHING to be on the sets for these movies... to get to watch these beautiful, exceptional pieces of art be made... from the sets to the cinematography to the costuming to the performances... truly my favorite movies of all time. They have reignited my love for song, my love for cinema, and the dream of my younger self to be acting and singing and creating in this way. Maybe I'll find my way onto one of these amazing projects someday in some capacity. 👀🩷💚 I sure hope so!
