I have been completely loving the quilting class I am running just now. It has been so wonderful to introduce people to different ways of approaching this gorgeous craft.

One of my students has seen a seed of an idea that is really taking hold for some really long form quilt based classes next year. There are a lot of details to iron out, but essentially I am considering a long form project style class that is solely for quilting. Maybe 3 month long blocks or something. This would allow you to work on a big project and get a really long block of supported time at the studio with me.

Very much an idea in its infancy at the moment but maybe I’m putting it out there to manifest some clarity.

If you are feeling unsettled at all at the moment or are looking for some creative inspiration I highly recommend listening to some episodes of the Seamside Podcast with ZAK FOSTER. My brain has felt a little on fire recently and this has given me a breather and sparked some creative gems which is heavenly.

I expect to find things a bit harder in the middle of winter when it is dark, cold and a bit miserable. But life doesn’t really stick to this. Overwhelm can hit anytime. When my mind is spinning and I can’t slow it down, reaching for a tangible, simple project really grounds me. It draws focus and helps me to just think about the slow stitches. One small stitch at a time.

Over the next while I am going to share some of my favourite tips and ideas for having some hand sewing projects on hand so you can reach for it whenever you need it.

I dug my ongoing hand quilt project out this afternoon. I’ve been working on this since December last year. It hasn’t had much done to it for a few months now.

It hasn’t been a project born out of a really crummy moment. There are parts of it I’m not completely happy with but that is part of the process and what this work represents to me.

I’m not really sure what has made me reach for it again just now but I’m going to lean into that.

I plan to write something about this piece. At some point. Maybe. If it feels right. For now, I’m leaning into the feel of the cloth and the rhythm of the stitches.

It’s been a rollercoaster of a weekend. Every time launch comes around I think it might be the time everyone has done all the sewing they want to and no one wants a class any more.

Crikey did you prove me wrong…. Monday Project evenings went in 5 minutes.

I cannot thank everyone who has booked a place enough. There are still lots of classes available for all levels so check out the website for details of workshops to keep you nice and busy and creative over the Autumn/ Winter season.
