Based in the heart of Jane Austen country, just a stone's throw from her home at Chawton, in Hampshire, From Rags To Bags offers an eclectic range of handmade handbags and home wares. All the items are created from clothing, fabric remnants and vintage buttons where possible, together with some new fabrics. The majority of the handmade handbags, together with some of the home wares are one off des

igns, as the materials used are in limited supply. Buying a From Rags To Bags product helps to recycle unwanted items, in turn, helping the environment. Charities also benefit, as much of the fabric is sourced direct from charity shops.

I’m always happy to consider custom makes using people’s own fabric. I recently received a request to make a doorstop from some small remnants of a treasured sari and was told to make anything else if I could. Managed to make a two tone doorstop and a small coin purse with the pieces I was sent. Have to admit, sari fabric is not the easiest to work with as it is so lightweight.
