I haven’t been posting as consistently lately — and like a lot of small businesses, there’s always that thought in the back of your mind about the algorithm.

But I’m reminding myself that showing up imperfectly is still better than forcing something that doesn’t feel right.

Right now, things feel a bit uncertain — like the ground is shifting more than usual — so the focus has been on keeping things steady behind the scenes rather than just visible on here.

How do you say goodbye to someone who helped shape the very foundations of your business—and who’s been such a huge part of your life for 23 years?

Tony… a man of his word, with a wicked sense of humour, the kindest heart, and the most trusting soul I’ve ever met.

He took a chance on me 23 years ago when I turned up at his factory Chelle leisure wear naive, full of ideas, and not really knowing what I was doing. He made my minimum orders, squeezed them in between his school sweatshirt work, and gave me an opportunity when he didn’t have to. When that side of his business slowed, Rew had taken off—so in the end, it became a win for both of us.

I know he wouldn’t mind me saying that not everyone treated him with the same honesty he showed them. There were people in the industry who didn’t pay him and took advantage of his good nature. I can’t help but feel those experiences added to the stress he carried. I hope, in some way, they reflect on that.

But putting that aside—yesterday was about Tony. The man. The legend.

It’s a crying shame that the good ones are taken too soon. He cared deeply for the people around him. Truthfully, he should have retired years ago—but he kept going, for Rew, for his staff, for everyone. And for that, we’re all so grateful.
Right to the end his humour shone through with his parting song.

Miss you, old boy.
