So lovely helping this family and baby start their babywearing journey! 💕

With temperatures soaring, I’ve been getting lots of questions about staying cool while babywearing ☀️

The Izmi Breeze Carrier has been working really well for families during this heatwave - those mesh panels make such a difference for airflow and it’s much lighter than some structured carriers. And one of the few that can genuinely be used for most newborns.

Struggling with carrying baby in the heat?

Here’s some hot weather babywearing tips to help keep you both comfortable and safe:

☂️ Use an umbrella as a parasol for shade
💧 Carry a damp muslin to have round your neck
👕 Use a UV protective cover over baby’s arms and legs
👶 Hat on baby for sun protection
⏰ Have regular breaks out of the carrier
🌡️ Keep checking baby’s temperature
💦 Stay hydrated and seek shade regularly!
🤱Feed baby frequently - this may be much more often
than you’ve been used to 🧑‍🍼

We are set for another rainy weekend - but how do you like to keep you and baby dry when you’re carrying them? Water proof baby wearing coats or rain proof carrier covers are an option but my favourite and simplest solution was to just use an umbrella over both of us. I recommend getting a clear see through bell umbrella like this. It’s deep enough to come right over both of you - even when back carrying - but you can still see where you are going.

Staying warm while babywearing couldn’t be easier with a babywearing coat like this. The zip in panel allows baby (or toddler in this case) to stay snuggled and warm on your front or on your back. And when you go inside or get warm you can just unzip it. Genius. Once your done carrying your baby unzip the panel and use like a regular coat. If you don’t have special babywearing coat don’t worry - you can use a sized up jacket, a separate zip in panel, a babywearing cover or simply a blanket or kids coat tucked around your carrier - see stories for ideas.
