For anyone who is wants to read the transcript before buying the book, here you go:
Cedric the Sabre Tooth Earthworm
The impression of Cedric that people first got
Was that if he had toothache it must hurt a lot.
Both of his teeth were as big as the other,
And each of them twice as big as his brother!
When his classmates saw Cedric they shivered with fright,
But the last thing he wanted was to give them a bite.
All that he wanted was to be their friend,
So he invited them to a party the following weekend.
He hung decorations all over his house,
And even had balloons in the shape of a mouse.
But no one turned up to his party at home.
Cedric again was left all alone.
From then on he spoke to no one,
But oh how he longed to join in their fun.
If he could just show them they need not be scared,
They would see that his friendship could not be compared.
Then one day in the school’s playground
No one but Cedric heard the frightful sound.
From up high came an enormous bird
Who snapped up poor Frederick with not even a word.
He held him tight in his bright yellow beak,
So tight that Frederick was unable to speak!
No one knew what on earth they should do
To get to poor Frederick before the bird flew.
Then out of nowhere with a flash came Cedric.
He shouted out loud, 'I’ll save you, Frederick!'
While everyone else ran in the opposite direction,
Cedric’s concern was for Frederick’s protection.
He jumped in the air and the sun hit his teeth,
Reflecting and blinding the bird underneath.
The bird gave a shriek and let go of poor Frederick,
And looked down at the ground to see it was Cedric.
Cedric had acted without fear for his life.
The bird saw his teeth were as sharp as a knife.
This brave, bold earthworm was willing to fight
To save his poor classmate with his will and his might!
The bird flew off, a lesson he'd learned.
He feared what he'd get if he ever returned.
The worms were no longer a bird’s tasty snack,
Cedric – the reason they never came back.
After that day life changed for brave Cedric,
The whole school befriended him, especially Frederick.
They had all seen that he was more than two scary teeth –
That he was friendly and loyal and loving beneath.
The lesson is never judge a book by its cover,
If you befriend someone first you might just discover
That they are no different to you or to me,
And a friend to the end they will certainly be.
