Woo hoo! I’ve actually got part of the house looking better, not worse. The polystyrene ceiling tiles are gone, and I have a lovely smooth clean ceiling. And check out the last photo, a renewed piece of coving courtesy of . Colours have been chosen. I’m going Dulux Timeless to all the ceilings and woodwork, and Dulux Heritage York White to the walls of the hall stairs and landing, a nice calm warm cream.

I find it such a shame that the colour tends to get sucked out of houses. This is the back bedroom which we have stripped. When I moved in, it was completely grey as seen in the second photo. Behind an old melamine wardrobe that I pulled out were bright green and yellows. I’m not sure I’ll go quite as bold but definitely want to add some green back in to this room. My sister has put thermal lining on the exterior walls and the party walls to make it cosy, and to dampen any noise. Looks better already. I’ve exposed the fireplace but really not sure what to do with it. If anyone knows why the bricks are like that do let me know!

No renovations this weekend. Instead I got a haircut, ate birthday cake, had a night out at the Tin in Cov then recuperated with a lovely dog walk, and lunch with the family. Perfect. Flowers courtesy of beautiful La

Today we have been tidying up the back of the house. There was a broken down small plastic roof shelter bolted to the exterior which was falling off and not of much use. Its really smartened it up. When we pulled it off there was also a falling down length of copper pipe that housed an electric cable to the falling-down garage. Safely dismantled that too so feeling very capable!

Wallpaper stripped and furniture plonked in- kinda cosy though - starting to feel like home, but would love some paint on the walls! I’m holding off til the electrics are done as I don’t want to paint it twice. This is the middle room which opens onto a small dining area which then leads through to the kitchen. It’s go a really nice feel especially in the evening.

So I’m in! Chaos everywhere except this one quiet corner. Got stripped walls, underlay instead of carpet downstairs, but it’s home! Poppy’s pleased to have found a spot on the sofa. And my sister has popped round for a glass of wine 🍷

And so the mess begins. This is the front room which will act as a storage space for all my crap until the garage is made useable (scroll though to see the horror show that is my garage at the moment). So glad I have helping me out - she’s definitely the better stripper 🤣
