General information
“The Bear Essentials” Although I have not been formally trained, I have enjoyed sewing and dressmaking for over 40 years. I made my first item in school when I was 10 years old. It was an ‘apron’ for the cookery lessons I would be taking in the following term. (No electric sewing machines in those days though) When I was 13 years old I made my first garment, a minty green denim trouser suit. I have no idea why I chose that awful colour and no, I never wore it but I loved making it and was so very proud of the work I did. Over the years I discovered I had a knack for making alterations to garments that couldn't or wouldn't be worn and I get great pleasure from completing a project. My most recent project was a wedding dress. The bride and her sisters burst into tears when she tried it on and they couldn't have paid me a bigger compliment. A very special moment I will treasure.
