Wandering through Bremen on our road trip and discovering that even a statue’s knees have a story. 🏰✨

Roland, the city’s iconic symbol of freedom and trade, wasn’t just a monument. The distance between his pointed knees (55.37 cm) became Bremen’s official measuring unit—the Bremer Elle—used by medieval merchants to measure fabric and keep trade fair.

We had FIKA (that sacred Swedish coffee-and-cake break, usually with good company) with friends, and it turned into exploring the region one of them grew up in — honestly the best way to really know someone, going back with them to their roots.

Sweden is nearly twice the size of the UK but home to only about 10 million people — plenty of room to breathe. People here really know how to slow down and enjoy life and nature. And with much of the country on holiday in July, it felt like everyone was out soaking up the sun. ☀️

We were dancing in the streets of Berlin for Christopher Street Day — pure joy, pure love. An hour later, a van attack near the closing rally took a life and injured dozens more. Devastated for the victims and their families. Love will always win. 🏳️‍🌈
