What you loved at I’d Wear That this week ♡

A little round-up of the things you’ve been buying, picking up and loving in the shop this week 👀
The Chip Thief is clearly becoming a firm Brighton favourite 😂, our RISO postcards have been flying out, and you’ve also been loving Hattie Gordon’s colourful cards, Brighton Water Shoes, jewellery and embroidery patches.

I always find it so interesting seeing what catches your eye each week. Which would you have picked?

Find us in our little orange shop on Brighton seafront, between the Palace Pier and the Zipline.

Some vintage deadstock cotton shirts I’ve been working my embroidery magic on lately 🧵✨

Each one is hand-guided embroidered by me on my old Singer machine, turning these unworn vintage shirts into completely one-of-a-kind pieces.

Most of these are now available to shop online 💛

I also have a selection of blank deadstock shirts in the studio, in a variety of sizes, ready to be embroidered. Choose from one of my existing designs, or we can create something a little more personal to you.

You can also bring in an item of your own for a little embroidery makeover ✨

Drop me a DM or pop into the Brighton studio to find out more.

About to start stitching this beauty 🧵✨

A deadstock shirt getting a new lease of life with big, bold floral embroidery… I’ve drawn out the design, picked my colours and now it’s time to get it under the machine. 🌼🧡

I’m also taking bookings for bespoke embroidery commissions and my diary is slowly starting to fill up for the AW season. Whether it’s a piece you already own that you’d love to make completely unique, or something special created as a gift, get in touch and we can chat ideas.

I know it feels far too early to mention the C word… 🎄😬 but bespoke pieces make such lovely Christmas presents and they take time to design and stitch, so if you have something in mind, don’t leave it too late!

DM me to book in or pop into the studio on Brighton seafront 🧵✨

Hello to old and new followers! 👋✨ I’ve had quite a few new faces pop up here recently, so I thought I’d say hello and reintroduce myself.

I’m Jennie, the person behind I’d Wear That… my little orange shop and creative studio on Brighton seafront, filled with vintage and preloved finds, pieces made and upcycled by me, and lots of embroidery 🧵💛

What a summer it’s been! ☀️ The school holidays have absolutely flown by, but we’ve achieved so much in that space of time. We refurbed and opened the studio shop on Brighton seafront (hard work during those crazy heatwaves! 🥵), traded at our very first festival at We Out Here Festival 🪩, and I’ve been working on some really special wedding embroidery commissions. I’ve also loved helping people add a little something unique to clothes and pieces they already love.

Now the kids are back at school, we’re heading back to our regular opening hours:

✨ Tuesday–Saturday | 10am–5pm
✨ Sunday + Monday | Closed

And I’m already starting to think about the cosier months ahead… 🍂🧵

This autumn/winter I’d love to start running small, relaxed workshops here in the studio. I’m thinking:

🪡 Reverse appliqué
✂️ Sew your own garment
🧵 Free-motion embroidery
🎨 Lino printing

But I’d LOVE to know what you’d like me to teach you! Is there something you’ve always wanted to have a go at? Let me know in the comments 👇

And if you’re an artist, maker or creative who would like to host a workshop here, please get in touch. It’s a small space, so workshops will be intimate… but I think it’s going to be very cosy down here by the sea in the winter. 🌊✨

Here’s to a new season of making, mending, learning and creating together. 💛
