Well Autumn is now here and the colours are looking beautiful. Summer passed so quickly, but I really enjoyed designing and making some lovely dresses. A delicate ballet wedding dress for a beautiful dancer and 3 mother-of-the-bride/groom outfits, plus some cruise outfits and made-to-measure trousers/ tops for more everyday wear.

I was very happy to make this wedding outfit for a customer last September. Luckily the day wasn't spoiled by Covid or the weather!

Happy New Year everyone. Let's hope that 2022 finds us returning to a semblance of normality, even if it's a new normal. We have all certainly had to reassess our lives, work and attitude to the future of the planet and are looking to use more sustainable or pre-used materials.

At the same time, we are also looking forward to being able to go to public and private events, seeing family and friends and generally getting back our social lives.

I was sorry to hear that Rolls and Rems in Lewisham will be closing at the end of February, due to the owners retiring. Finding the right cloth for a special outfit is very important and R and R was a very useful supplier. Cloth is difficult to buy online, as the colours often vary from the photographs and we can't feel the drape of the cloth from a small swatch, or check if it creases easily.

However, we should now think more about using cloth from markets and shops which sell fabrics left over from production runs. I would recommend a visit to the Goldhawk Road (Shepherds Bush area) where there are lots of fabric shops right by the tube station. Walthamstow also has many outlets apparently, although I haven't visited there myself yet.

I am also happy to customise or update favourite items from your wardrobe.

Looking forward to hearing from you.

Pauline

Very happy to be welcoming back customers, old and new! It's been a frustrating time for many people and we all need something to look forward to in our lives.!

It has been lovely to get back to work and seeing customers again! We are slowly getting back to (a new) normal and we'll just have to see what the future brings. Hopefully the weather will also cheer up soon!

Hi all. Enjoying the lovely sun today and looking forward to April 12th when I can safely welcome you back. What a year! Let's hope for a happy, sociable summer! XX

I would like to wish everyone a happy new year, although things still look pretty bleak for the time being. However, there is hope on the horizon and when we are vaccinated and safe to mix again, there will be some terrific parties, gatherings and events coming up! I am really looking forward to getting going again, so in the meantime, get thinking of some exciting ideas. Then, when we are allowed to, we can start making dreams come true!

Well, it's looking like Boris will be allowing businesses like hairdressers and tailors etc to start trading again from around July 4th, so I'm getting prepared for a safe environment in my workroom. I work from home and it has just been the three of us here for the last 3 months. I have been making scrubs, masks and bags but also have been able to to work for some customers who leave material on my doorstep and then collect the ready made garments etc the same way. However, if I am making new made to measure patterns and dresses, customers will need to be measured and fitted. I will wear a mask and have sanitiser available when arriving and leaving. I will be wiping down surfaces in the workroom between customers and would require no more than 2 people in at a time. If anyone has any concerns or special requirements, please let me know. Meanwhile, check out my new website on paulineflanagandesigns.co.uk. Many thanks, Pauline x

I hope that everyone is keeping well and planning for the future! I am happy to say that the extra time has allowed me to set up a website at long last! It still needs some tweaking, but I hope that it gives a better idea of what I do and can offer. X
