There is nothing quite like the feeling of saying, 'I made this!'

One of our lovely makers finished off this fantastic dress at home after starting it in class - that train fabric is just wonderful.

This week we have been tackling everything from zip replacements to waistband alterations. But sewing skills aren't just for making new clothes; they are for loving the ones we already have. If you fancy learning the beautiful, relaxing art of visible mending, I have a few spaces left on our upcoming evening of sashiko!

I am thrilled to be collaborating with Beeforth's Hive for the Scarborough 400 celebrations!

I’ll be hosting three special workshops to create a beautiful community wall hanging for the Hive. Come along and learn free-motion embroidery (drawing with thread) to stitch a postcard panel of your favourite seaside memory.

Absolutely no sewing experience is needed, and all machines and upcycled fabrics are provided!

The Details:
📅 Mondays 27th July, 3rd August, or 10th August
🕐 1pm - 4pm
📍 Beeforth’s Hive, South Cliff Gardens
🎟️ Free to attend (Age 10+, under 16s with an adult)

I am completely blown away to share that our upcoming block of sewing classes is now officially fully booked across all our afternoon, after-school, and evening sessions!

To every single parent, young designer, and adult maker who has booked a spot: thank you from the bottom of my heart. Running these workshops in Burniston is an absolute joy to me, and knowing that the room will be buzzing with so much creative energy is the best feeling.

We are on half-term this week, but we cannot wait to welcome everyone back next week to get those machines humming!

Don't forget: No Classes This Wednesday 📣✨

Just a gentle reminder to all our lovely makers that there are no sewing classes this Wednesday, 27th May, as we are on our half-term break.

Our Young Designers and evening adult groups can enjoy a well-earned week off to rest, recharge, and perhaps get a little bit of making done at home!

We will be back as normal the next week, bursting with creative energy and ready to start our exciting new projects! Have a wonderful half-term break, everyone!

Our Young Designers had the most wonderful time exploring the traditional craft of wet felting this week!

It is such a beautifully tactile process, and the studio was absolutely bursting with bright wool and brilliant energy. Using just warm soapy water and their own hands, they transformed soft fibres into these amazing, colourful creations.

I love how unique each piece turns out - giving children a pile of wool and watching their imaginations take over is pure magic. They all did a fantastic job!

The adult wet felting session had such a lovely, gentle pace to it this week. It is a wonderfully traditional and tactile process, and there is something relaxing about watching the soft wool fibres slowly transform into solid fabric.

A huge thank you to everyone who joined us. Taking a few hours to slow down and create together is exactly what we are all about.

Look at this beautiful, cheerful bunting made by one of our Young Designers!

​Working with triangles and getting those crisp, sharp points takes a wonderful amount of patience and accuracy. It is such a fun project for personalizing a bedroom, and this one has been stitched beautifully.

​It certainly brings a lovely splash of colour and joy to the hall!

How wonderful do these two look in their handmade skirts?

They worked with their mums to bring these beautiful designs to life.

​It was lovely to see them customising their projects to suit exactly what they wanted: one choosing to add handy pockets and the other adding an embroidered badge.

​There is nothing quite like the pride of wearing something you helped make yourself. Brilliant teamwork, everyone!
