Okay so, I'm sorry it's been so long since I've posted anything on the grid! Buuuut I finally got pictures of just two of the five dresses I've made in stretch jersey which I've basically been living in since last summer.

Isn't it ironic that I wear these dresses every single day and yet never remember to take a photo before they go back in the wash again!

I've had a slow start to my sewing this year with hurting my back, getting Covid, having a laproscopy and now my hallway and craft room walls are being replasterd and redecorated to stop the damp 😬 I seem to be unable to catch a break with sewing at the moment but here are a few of my most recent makes all in one pic!

I can't remember the pattern number but I'll pop it in the comments. Its just a basic sleeveless jersey dress. I tend to layer them with jumpers and jackets because they're pretty shapeless, but so comfortable and don't trigger my sensory issues. The floral one was my favourite (in last pic) but I've barely worn it since making this monochrome leopard print version! I also altered the pattern to be narrower at the shoulders and more flared at the skirt. All of them have be lengthened as the original pattern is a mini dress which is just not for me! I'll stick with midi's as they're better for when I need a wheelchair on days out!

Also in the picture is my canvas f***y pack which I made using a free pattern that I altered. The pattern was called the Mochi bag and was designed for kids so I just scaled up and decided to make the front panel have a zipper. I used the YouTube tutorial, meant for the ***ypack for the bias bound method and applied it to this pattern as the instructions for the mochi bag didn't make as much sense for me 🤷‍♀️

Finally is the cropped zip up khaki fleece which is the best spring cover up for chilly evenings and when there is a breeze! It's sort of self drafted. I used a mood pattern to help me figure out a base size to go off. But the original pattern had tons of original and cool pattern details and I basically stripped all of them off because I wanted a basic staple 😅

Anyone else awful with posting? 🤦‍♀️

Upholstery ✅

I've been learning some new skills in anticipation for another project which is coming soon! As much as I love sewing, sometimes it's nice to just staple some s**t together 😅
I knew these William Morris print curtains would come in handy, they're huge and I got them in a charity shop last year for about a tenner! Got the chair for free so the only cost investment for me were the tools to complete the project. I'll know they come in handy again though so it was a worthwhile investment!

What new skills have you been learning recently?

This week I said goodbye to my very first quilt creation as it was donated to the Quilt Project SOS run by

I have to thank Jen for giving me a spot on her beginners workshop to support me while I made this quilt. The front design is the pattern used in her course, with an added border I used to increase the size of the quilt. The back is a random scramble of scraps which came together surprisingly well. Without Jen's help, I wouldn't have known where to start but her teaching made the whole process of quilting feel effortless!

I also want to thank Sarah and staff for all your help with fabric matching, your wonderful encouragement and advice which helped me massively along the way.

And of course, thank you to for hosting a challenge that shares love through creativity and the comfort of a good quilt. I wanted to make something for someone who needed a reminder of their value in the world and hopefully something that will be a comfort to them for years to come. I couldn't think of a better reason to learn a new skill and spend my summer creating something special for someone not going through the best of times 💚

If you've made it this far through my little thank you speech, you can scroll across to see my dumb little edit of me wearing my quilt at the Met Gala. It's fashion baby 🤣

Another today while visiting ☺️ Tom challenged me to make a dress for Wisley a while ago so I could get excited about being able to go when the pandemic slowed and he gave me a little budget! Well of course I bought extra fabric, and now we are twinning 😅

I knew how ridiculously exciting it is to wear clothes you've made but I've worn this dress so much this summer that it's just a staple in my wardrobe and I am somewhat detached from the reality that my hand created this piece of clothing. So making Tom a matching shirt meant I could appreciate it more how far my sewing skills have come to be able to make clothes for other people too! The shirt was a free pattern I found online by and after a huge meltdown trying to figure out the shoulder seams, I finally finished it in time to take with me on holiday!

This shirt is also one of my makes, though I did buy some fabric thinking it might take a few months to get here and it's already arrived 😅 I've tried not to buy any new fabric, for clothing for myself and have shopped my stash. I have a few other finished projects I am yet to photograph and post some updates about a charity quilt project I'm embarking on with the lovely so more in that to come!

I hope everyone is having a wonderful summer! Apologies that posting has been slow but I've been taken over by the allotment and preserving all the lovely produce we are getting ready to store through winter ☺️

✨Twinning with myself ✨

I love to sew doubles, especially when I find something that suits me and is comfortable! I'm entering these makes into the challenge! Didn't you know Geminis come in pairs?

Tbh, I'm not massively into astrology but I know my star sign is known for being 'two faced' or having more than one personality and I guess for me that is somewhat true. There is the me that I know, and the mask I wear to the world to hide my struggles and nuerodivergence. When I read my charts it seems to ring true, because it's basically describing someone with ND traits 😅 so for me sewing doubles makes a lot of sense when I find something that is comfortable and doesn't mess with my sensory issues, why not make more than one? And since these are sleeveless I'll be wearing these right through to winter layered up!

I also saw a cute infograph that said daisies are the Gemini flower which is funny because I actually love a daisy. I have two matching daisy tattoos on the back of my calves and get drawn to any and every daisy print there is 😅 so there is a little bit if sweet irony in the fact I didn't plan these dresses specifically for this challenge but they're both recent makes and my new favourite summer staple.

✂️MAKE DETAILS✂️

It is of course the button down from . I've used this pattern so many times now and every time I try a new combination I love it. It's such a versatile pattern. Both fabrics are from and one is a viscose twill and the daisy is a viscose challis, so basically perfect for summer!

Thanks to for hosting this challenge, I've enjoyed learning a bit of astrology but I think I'll stick to sewing 😅

I made Tom and I matchy Tshirts from this space fabric and I'm obsessed with the 80's vibes 💚 I am also loving an oversized t-shirt at the moment. I used fabric from and a free GBSB men's t-shirt pattern from the Sew magazine website. I altered the shape slightly for mine to accommodate my wide hips but they're pretty much the same size other than that. Now we can go be a lame matchy couple 🤣 I still need to find a better way to hem knits as the fake twin stitch I've been doing on a single needle hasn't held up to washing and the twin needle didn't see to want to work 🤷‍♀️ any advise besides getting a coverlock is much welcomed because at this point I'm honestly tempted 🤣

👋Farewell Me Made May 2021 👋

It's been a useful challenge for me to audit my wardrobe, see where my gaps are and try to fill them. My biggest gap is summer clothes. I hate getting overheated, but have always found summer clothes the most difficult to find that are to my liking. Now I'm making my own, summer doesn't feel quite so weary 😅 I was beginning to think summer would never come!

I have been out in my new make, a new look pattern k6449, view B without the pockets. I made the largest size as I like a lot of ease around the top portion in summer and I think I made the right choice! Now to make another one for the rest of the week 🤣 this is also made from a black cotton jersey I bought second hand on Facebook. I love black, I find it easy to wear and I wear it a lot. It's hard to get excited about sewing basics but I'm definitely excited about wearing them 🙂

I have had a fun time relaxing in the sunshine this weekend! What have you all been up to? Have you finally been able to wear your fav summer garment? I'd love to hear about your summer makes in the comments 👇

My new favourite make!

I made this button down sundress (a version of the by which I've made before) out of some drapey viscose twill from and I love it. I love it so much I wore it two days in the row, hot off the machine and have washed it and got it on again!

This is what I'm calling 'The Wisley dress' because I hope to make it to Wisley this summer and this is the dress I made for it. I was challenged by my partner to make something for it and he even paid for the fabric too! ☺️

But I have a feeling I'll be wearing it on most sunny days, and transition it into autumn with some layering too! Not just for Wisley! I may need to make myself another one of these!
