PUTTING ON FAITH

Reading Matthew 17:17 onwards, Jesus was desperate and frustrated with both His disciples and the people around Him because of their lack of faith to set a boy free from demonic oppression.

After Jesus sets him free, the disciples were eager to know what they did wrong. Jesus simply says in verse 20:

“You don’t have enough faith,”

Jesus told them. “I tell you the truth, if you had faith even as small as a mustard seed, you could say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it would move. Nothing would be impossible.” NLT

What stood out is that the disciples could not cast out the demon based on their inabilities and what they learnt. The fact that Jesus said if you have faith, in the God, the source of the power, as small as a mustard seed you can do the impossible, suggested that the disciples' faith must have been microscopic. They seemed to not fully grasp the source of the power but instead trusted in the formulaic ability they had learnt and may have become confused by why those techniques did not work.

Who can identify with this?

The exciting thing is there is hope, a way out to experience something amazing through the impossible. The amazing thing Jesus is saying, by just putting on or having some small, tiny faith in an omnipotent God it will make the humanly impossible supernaturally possible.

Do you ever feel like it's harder waking up on a Monday than it is on a Sunday?

It can often feel easier to be close to God on a Sunday. To believe His promises. To hold onto His truth.

But then... Monday comes.

The alarm goes off.
The traffic piles up.
The emails start.
The pressure returns.

And suddenly, the truth that felt so clear on Sunday is being challenged by what you see and feel today.

That doesn't mean you're suddenly less spiritual or that something has gone wrong.

Sometimes, you simply need to reconnect with God's TRUTH. The truth that cuts through the noise of everyday life and brings your thoughts back to Him.

So, as you're scrolling this morning looking for something to take the pain out of Monday, we just wanted to remind you...

Yes, Mondays can be hard.

But Monday doesn't get the final word.

God's truth still stands.

And so can you.

Here's one of our favourite truths to carry into the week:

Philippians 4:6-8 NLT

[6] Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need.

Think about things that are excellent and worthy of praise.
