As Halloween draws closer, I thought I'd cover my top 5 Halloween facts, so here are some spooky facts that might surprise you, I've thrown in a couple of extras down below.

🎃 Halloween started over 2,000 years ago!

🎃 Black and orange have deep meaning. Orange represents harvest, and black symbolizes death & darkness.

🎃 It’s the 2nd biggest commercial holiday. Halloween is only behind Christmas in spending - talk about scary!

Tuesday Movie Trivia 🎬

To stick with spooky season, this week, I will be looking at this often overlooked Halloween family classic, Monster House (2006)

🎥 From groundbreaking motion-capture animation to hidden Easter eggs and spooky inspirations, this 2000s gem still holds up pretty well. I was 20 when it was first released, and I still enjoyed it then as much as I do now, and my kids enjoy it all the same.

So stay tuned for my top Monster House trivia — you might never look at that creepy neighbourhood house the same way again!

Top 5 Friday

I'm kicking off the first Friday of spooky season with my Top 5 personal traditions of Halloween.

Like many, I love the start to Autumn, the cooler weather, darker nights, decorating the hous ready for the build-up to Halloween, and the cosy evenings watching the classic horrors with some newer ones thrown in, ending it all with a big Halloween party - it's almost a second Christmas!

Tuesday Movie Trivia 🎬

Today we’re diving into one of the most chilling haunted house films ever made:
The Haunting (1963).

Based on Shirley Jackson’s The Haunting of Hill House, this black-and-white masterpiece proves you don’t need gore or jump scares to terrify. With eerie sound design, unsettling camera angles, and psychological tension, it remains a horror classic that still gives audiences goosebumps decades later.

This was one of my first ghost films, and I still enjoy it to this day. I highly recommend it.

Okayyy… my house is officially in full Halloween mode!

Pumpkins, cobwebs, skeleton, the whole gang is here.

I will always enjoy putting my Halloween playlist on and doing the place up. The only issue, is they all go so well with our normal decorations. It is sometimes hard to tell what we've actually put out, and It's hard to get a pic that gives it justice.

Last one of my top 5 by decade until after Halloween, and this week, we howl back to the 90s golden age of werewolf cinema!
From cult classics to forgotten gems, these movies, for me, reinvigorated the werewolf genre and definitelywerent afraid to try new things even if the results were mixed. So here are my Top 5 Werewolf Films of the 90s you need to sink your fangs into.

Tuesday Movie Trivia 🎬

This week, step inside the House on Haunted Hill (1959)… if you dare! 👻 Starring horror legend Vincent Price and directed by gimmick-master William Castle, this cult classic is packed with spooky chills, campy thrills, and one of the most famous movie gimmicks of all time: Emergo, a skeleton that flew over the audience during screenings!

Shot in just 14 days on a tiny budget, the film went on to inspire Alfred Hitchcock’s Psycho (1960), proving that low-budget horror could still terrify and thrill audiences.

And yes, that creepy mansion exterior? It’s the iconic Ennis House by Frank Lloyd Wright, later seen in Blade Runner.
