If you’re new to Cherrytree Accessories — hello 👋 and thank you so much for stopping by my page.
I’m Catherine, a 52-year-old down to earth Yorkshire lass living in the beautiful Yorkshire Dales with Pip, my dinky Springer Spaniel 🐾
I previously ran a clothing and accessories business for 15 years, which I absolutely loved (so if you’re wondering why some of the older posts on this page are all about clothes — that’s why!) But life moved on, personal circumstances changed, and these days I work part time for a local haberdashery company.
When I’m not working or making bag straps, you’ll usually find me pottering in the garden, catching up with friends, walking Pip, or planning the next holiday — preferably somewhere with sunshine, good food and a nice view!
I’ll also admit to having a bit of OCD! I’m a bit of a stickler for straight lines, things being in order of size, being organised. Oh and my clothes are arranged in colour and length order 🫣.
I’ve always had a bit of an obsession with colour coordinating… and that little quirk is what actually started this whole journey!
Last summer I decided to replace the straps on my own bags so I could swap them around to match different outfits. But I struggled to find exactly what I wanted. If I loved the webbing, the hardware didn’t match my bags. And when I did find something I liked, it was more than I wanted to pay.
So I decided to make my own!
And what started as a solution to a problem quickly grew, when friends began asking me to make some for them too.
One friend is very tall and could never find a strap long enough to wear comfortably — and that was a real lightbulb moment 💡. I realised so many women were being overlooked when it came to strap length.
That’s why my extra long straps are now my best sellers — because we should all be able to wear our bag comfortably, whether that’s over the shoulder or crossbody at the perfect length.
Fast forward 10 months and I now stock over 50 webbing designs and colours, along with five hardware finishes (gold, silver, antique brass, gunmetal and rainbow) — plus over 60 shades of strong recycled thread.
My straps are also stocked in 10 wonderful independent retailers across the Wharfe and Aire valleys, and I’m honestly so grateful for all the support I’ve received.
Alongside the straps, I also stock a small selection of camera-style bags in seasonal colours. They’re £15 and come with their own plain or patterned strap. But if you’d like an additional strap making, simply choose your favourite webbing, hardware finish and preferred length.
This page is for anyone wanting to replace a worn or tired strap, or simply make their favourite bag feel a little more versatile and personal.
A website is hopefully on the horizon, but for now we do things the old-fashioned way via Messenger — which I secretly love because I get to chat properly and help people choose something that really suits them.
If you browse through the photo section on my page, you’ll find all the available webbing, hardware and bags without needing to scroll through endless posts.
