World Cup nations, woven in tartan. Next up: South Korea
Tartan isn’t just for clans. It can tell stories of countries, families, friendships and cultural connection too.
The South Korea Tartan was designed in 2010 by David McGill for an international fashion show, and to celebrate the marriage of his daughter to a native South Korean.
Its colours bring together the national flag of South Korea, the Taegukgi, with the blue and white of Scotland’s Saltire, creating a tartan rooted in both personal story and international friendship.
It has since been used at events in Scotland and South Korea, a bold symbol of connection across borders.
Spirit of South Korea is a registered tartan.
