My dad has been busy in his workshop turning some wooden plinths for the shop and I’ve started the process of staining them.

This one is going green - think bright, washing up liquid green!! 💚 😍 💚

It got a bit messy but thankfully I did manage to get most of the dye off my hands and arms. Note to self: next time wear gloves.

Just waiting on another pot of dye to finish the job but it’s too exciting not to share already.

I realised I haven’t really posted anything recently but we’ve been so busy trying to get everything sorted for the shop that I haven’t had the head space or the energy to think about social media.

On one hand time is going fast and it feels like we’ve not made loads of progress but on the other there’s a lot going on and we’ve got so much stuff lined up and in progress.

It’s currently a juggle between the manual stuff at the shop like scraping old carpet off the stairs and endless cleaning, to sourcing the right pieces of furniture and display, to trying to keep on top of emails with artists, makers and all the practical providers of electricity and such like.

The shop has the most amazing bones but it feels like it’s been pretty unloved for the past 100 years so I keep reminding myself that we’re breathing new life into the space and that it all takes time.

Laying a new floor downstairs will be the game changer. Once that’s down it’s going to be a whole new world in there and it’ll suddenly feel very real. Right now it’s hard to imagine it all coming together in a few weeks time. But it will and it’s going to be amazing!

A long old day at filled with lovely people, vintage vibes, tarot readings and more than a few flowers.

It was SO hot I just did a quick flit round the gardens and the pavillion to catch a little bit of the spectacle of the flower show.

Don’t know if it’s because I was wearing yellow and had been standing in a mustard coloured stall all day but I found myself drawn to all the faded yellows and cream flowers 🌼🌻

On my way up to to help the lovely on her stand.

This will be my third time lending a hand at Chelsea and it’s always so much fun it’s become a bit of a fixture on the calendar. I can’t wait!

Yesterday I was lucky to have a ticket to hear Rose Wylie discussing her art at with .

It was so great to hear Rose’s own take on her work and why she paints what she does. From the football gods and the film stars, the small feet, the reasons behind the huge scale of her work and the getting it down. A gorgeously humorous discussion even though she “doesn’t do humour”.

And when at Charleston it’s of course always nice to have a quick stroll round the garden too 🌿

For those of you asking which shop? This is where you’ll find us; in the old newsagents, previously the pen shop and soon to be shoe shop & gallery.

For the next month we’ll be cleaning, laying a new floor, fixing lighting, hanging rails and generally filling the shop with beautiful creations.

If you’re in Alfriston and you see us in there feel free to pop your head in and say hi otherwise we’ll see you mid-June when we’re ready to officially throw open the doors.

This is too exciting not to share …

After my previous post about the shop I had several lovely messages from people about potential options. I have .fragrance to thank for the tip off as I’m happy to say that we’ve found a new shop & gallery space and it’s even better than the previous one.

Pretty soon you’ll be able to find us in the beautiful village of Alfriston, just a stones throw from Lewes, where our doors will be open for you to try on & shop Chapter 2 boots, commission your dream pair of handcrafted shoes, enjoy art & craft from a variety of incredible British artists and makers, and take part in one of our creative workshops.

I’m not always very good at trusting that the universe has an alternative plan in mind when something doesn’t work out, but this is definitely some kind of karma for sure.

I can’t wait for you to see the space as it’s literally magical! ✨ think Liberty’s but in miniature.
