Happy Pancake Day 😍
Will you make Pancakes today?
Cooking with your little is a great activity that provides a fun and learning rich opportunity.
A multi-sensory experience, an opportunity to discover more about the world around them and encourage their creativity.
What can they smell? How does it feel? How does it taste? What noises can they hear as you mix, crack an egg, shake, grate.…? As you discover the joy of baking together, support their language by talking and asking lots questions.
What colours can they see? What does it look like?
Use descriptive language as you talk through the activity and attentively listen to your little one as they talk to you.
Share in their excitement, treasure these fun (slightly messy) moments together.
Allow your little one to assist with mixing, tipping in ingredients, measuring, and pouring.
This will improve their motor skills, hand eye coordination and manual dexterity.
This may involve a little mess, perhaps sticky fingers, flour coated clothing or a broken egg, however it is through that messy experience your little one will grow and learn.
