Timeless: In Focus — Episode 02: A J. Moreno Barong

A closer look into the craftsmanship behind a J. Moreno creation.

This Piña fabric barong from the 1990s features white silk embroidery, calado openwork technique, and sombrado (shadow embroidery).

Sombrado is a subtle embroidery technique stitched at the back of sheer fabric. The design appears as a soft shadow on the front.

In this mini-series, Prof. Joseph Bawar () shares the details, techniques, and stories behind selected archival pieces from the collection.
