A few moments from Netherwood Estate.

We’re looking forward to returning this Friday 5th June for part two of The Countryside through Mid-Century Art.

With a rehang of the Garden Gallery and a selection of new works by John Piper, Rowland Suddaby and Robert Tavener, who has been so popular in this show. Join us for colourful post-war landscapes, in this beautiful countryside setting, providing the perfect backdrop for the show.

Netherwood Manor gardens will also be open under the National Garden Scheme on the weekend of the 13-14 June, with a plant sale and café.

A calmer way to spend the bank holiday.

The Countryside through Mid-Century Art continues at Netherwood Estate this weekend, with our collection of colourful, thought-provoking mid-century works inspired by the countryside in post-war Britain. We have also created a wall dedicated to John Piper’s fabric designs, whose bold designs and vivid colours still feel remarkably fresh today.

Set within this beautiful Herefordshire estate, in the medieval timbered barn, the exhibition offers a quiet slice of calm and reflection over the long weekend, away from the crowds.

While the gardens are closed over the bank holiday, the exhibition remains open.

We’re delighted that The Countryside Through Mid-Century Art at the Netherwood Estate has been featured in Country Life.

Now open, the exhibition runs until 25th May and returns from 5th – 14th June, celebrating postwar rural creativity through works by John Piper, Robert Tavener, Katharine Church, Elisabeth Frink, Rowland Suddaby and more.

Here are a few glimpses from the exhibition at Netherwood Estate, the article and featured work by Robert Tavener. Do come and see us, we’re open each day 10am - 4pm.

The Netherwood Manor gardens are open under the National Garden Scheme this weekend and the weekend of the 13th - 14th June.

Entry to the exhibition is free, entry to the Netherwood Gardens is £8, donated to charity.

Opening next weekend 🌿

The Countryside Through Mid-Century Art opens at The Barn Gallery, Netherwood Estate.

It was a pleasure to spend some time this week photographing a selection of works throughout the gardens at Netherwood ahead of next weekend’s opening, as the estate moves from spring into early summer.

The exhibition opening will coincide with the gardens opening under the National Garden Scheme on 16-17 May, and on 13-14 June.

Free curator’s tours:
