A new podcast I listen to is: People Who Play with and her sidekick, Ben. They are a duo talking about a lot of things - mainly, how to continue to live life through a PLAYFUL lens (live creatively + have fun despite all of our adult responsibilities). Emma’s early work was in youth culture research and she is one of the most creative people I have ever met. You will fall in love with Ben and learn so much from Emma’s thought process and personal experience. I find it a great listen both for my own individual mindset (how we get stuck and fall into routine) as well as family dynamics and opening the mind to new and more playful ways.

Reading this great book by .damour - recommended by another mom going through tween/teen transitions. Really keeps things in perspective.

On a different note - holiday such an optimal time to reconnect with the kids. They get back into play and they are just themselves again without all the surrounding noise (and anxieties) that come with being a teenager…. Much easier to be with 😊🙏

My kids are 10 and 13 and every stage brings new challenges I find - esp with screens and tech and how it effects family dynamics. Good article in around different different stages / ages of technology (‘screen time’) and how to thijk about, talk about and navigate with our kids.

This is a book I keep referring back to. The author provides insight from several pov’s (she’s a teacher, school consultant and psychologist)

I really feel it is an important read for any parent with children at any stage. We all understand technology is here to stay but many of us grapple with the challenges of raising a family within this still semi new and constantly changing digital landscape. The book explores practical ways to look at family dynamics and strengthen our relationships given these challenges.

She talks through personal experiences and first hand stories, she traces the harmful impact of screen time on each stage of child development. The book almost acts as your mentor, with thoughtful tools to navigate and support our children throughout. Reminding us it’s all about keeping a sense of balance.
