Once upon a time in 1970, a wise US Senator named Ga***rd Nelson had an epiphany. He realised that our planet was in trouble and needed some serious TLC. So, he decided to create a day dedicated to Mother Nature and all her beauty - Earth Day was born.
On April 22nd of that year, millions of people across the US took part in rallies, protests, and other events to show their love for our lovely blue and green planet. And, it worked. The US government took notice and passed new environmental laws, including the creation of the Environmental Protection Agency. Now that's what we call some serious impact.
Since then, Earth Day has grown into a global phenomenon, with people from all corners of the world coming together to celebrate and protect our beautiful planet. Each year, there's a new focus, from climate change to plastic pollution, reminding us that every day should be Earth Day.
So let's keep the love going. Remember to recycle, use reusable bags, and spread the word about how we can all help our planet thrive 🌍🌱
