Footwear that completes the flight and elongates the body. Weight and detachment coexist in dynamic tension. The circle holds energy in suspension and creates the internal pressure necessary for the élan.

The elongated form is inspired by Constantin Brâncuși’s Bird in Space. It carries the eye rhythmically upwards. Motion and dynamism held within stillness.

I must have made almost everyone in the atelier try them on. Surprisingly comfortable to walk in.

III. BODY ABSENT / BODY PRESENT – THE INSTALLATION INHABITED

LE VOL, MAIS CECI N’EST PAS UN OISEAU

The final chapter of a series exploring the installation through bodily presence and absence.
When inhabited, the suspended forms enter into dialogue with the moving body.

Today, I presented The Shape of Flight at the Royal College of Art Fashion Expo 2026.

My practice is about flight - but not birds, wings, feathers or clouds. It is about Nadia Comăneci flying through gymnastics, David Popovici through water, and Brâncuși reducing flight to its most essential form in Bird in Space.

These were the three images projected behind me as I spoke.

And today marks 50 years since Nadia’s perfect 10.
Because flight does not belong only to birds.

BTS, February exhibition - the making of “Brâncuși: între modă și tehnologie”

We were looking for the perfect ciel blue.
We thought we found it, so painted the walls.
Then we painted everything white again. And started over.

It got late, we were exhausted, but still loving the process and in the end, it came together better than we imagined.

We had the most amazing curators 🤍

Wouldn’t have been possible without the support of and Martha Mocanu.

Special mention to Tzatza, the dog, in charge of the lights.

Maybe that’s what Brâncuși meant -
that it should feel like play.
