’s smile says it all, seeing her boot design become reality over 12 days of handsewn shoemaking.

As a fashion student this was her first time shoemaking. It was lovely to see her enjoying getting hands on with the process. She immersed herself in footwear knowledge, taking the introduction to footwear pattern making and closing classes with beforehand.

’s boot build is done and she’s finishing her boots.

But why does finishing take so long? Because it’s those final hours of rasping, glassing, sanding and burnishing and decisions about polish, dye, wax and colour that have the biggest impact…on the silhouette and enhancing the overall style.

Will they be pared back an elegant, modern and dramatic or strong and structured?

Love this show and great to see foot health being discussed. Disappointed though there wasn’t much advice about footwear or the benefits of keeping your feet (and body) strong or rotating what shoes you wear, natural leather or material linings for breath ability or the damage caused by comfy old trainers worn day in day out.

It would be great to have seen a bespoke orthopaedic shoe expert Bill Bird alongside the Professor for advice What's up Docs
