We are very sad to learn of the passing of Lady Pamela Hicks.
A wonderfully elegant and lovely lady. It was a great pleasure to meet her at her book release on India at the Nehru Centre in London. We had a lovely conversation and she spoke of her great love of India.
She adored India and her time there when her father Lord Mountbatten was Viceroy. And to such an extent that she named her daughter India!
We met again at Henley and she was just the same lovely charming lady, and this time with her daughter India🌷🌷

My mother died peacefully yesterday. Whilst there is no tragedy in the death of a 97-year-old who has lived a full life I know grief will be unavoidable, lurking around waiting for me, but today I am simply grateful that she was my Mother. And through the prism of a crowded and remarkable past, she made incomparable company, carrying her memories lightly, and always with humour, and maintained right up to the end, the impeccable style, sharp mind, and effortless charm that made her not only a cherished institution, but truly the last of her kind.
