British hurdler Jessica Turner says she is excited to be fit enough to make a last-ditch attempt at Olympic qualification.

The 28-year-old was the only Team GB runner to progress beyond the 400m heats at the Tokyo Games in 2021, but her semi-final run ended in tears because of an Achillies injury.

Surgery kept her out for a year and in January, during the build-up to Paris 2024, she suffered a similar injury on her other Achillies.

Norwich City have sacked boss David Wagner less than 24 hours after their crushing Championship play-off defeat by Leeds.

BBC Sport understands the Canaries have acted following Thursday's 4-0 semi-final second-leg loss which left them facing a third successive season in the second tier.

Arsenal coach Carlos Cuesta is of interest as a replacement having worked with sporting director Ben Knapper when he was loans manager at the Gunners.

Wagner was on borrowed time after Knapper replaced Stuart Webber in November but managed to guide the Canaries to a sixth-placed finish.

An official club statement is expected later on Friday.

The Canaries dropped to 17th in November after a 3-1 home defeat by Blackburn at the end of a run of seven defeats in nine games, and only one win.

But a fine second half to the season saw them win eight straight home games to earn a play-off spot.

They drew 0-0 with Leeds at Carrow Road in the first leg on Sunday but a dire performance saw the Whites cruise to the play-off final, where they will play Southampton or West Brom.

Wagner told BBC Radio Norfolk after the loss at Elland Road: "This is super disappointing, we were very poor and it really hurts."

Wagner, who led Huddersfield to promotion to the Premier League in 2017, was appointed in January 2023, replacing Dean Smith, and eventually finished 13th in the Championship last season.

He failed to reference Knapper during a post-game press conference following the final day 1-0 defeat at Birmingham, despite praising his predecessor Webber for his support.

Norwich face a potentially difficult summer with United States international Josh Sargent, their top scorer with 16 goals, and fellow forward Jonathan Rowe - whose season was disrupted by injury following a flying start - likely to attract attention in the transfer market.

Defender Dimitris Giannoulis, Ben Gibson and Sam McCallum are among those out of contract and they will also need to consider potential replacements for striker Ashley Barnes, who will be 35 in October.

Talks are also likely about the future of Adam Idah, who was allowed to join Celtic on loan and contributed eight goals in their title-winning Scottish Premiership campaign.

It is a time of change at Carrow Road as Delia Smith and Michael Wynn Jones are no longer majority shareholders, with Norfolk FB Holdings, led by American businessman Mark Attanasio, now matching their 40% stake.

Paris St-Germain have won their third consecutive Ligue 1 title after second-placed Monaco fell to a 3-2 defeat against Lyon.

PSG are 12 points clear and cannot be caught with just three games remaining.

Malick Fofana scored the winner for Lyon on Sunday, with the 19-year-old slotting home from close range late on.

PSG had the chance to seal the title with victory on Saturday but could only manage a draw against relegation-threatened Le Havre.

It is PSG's 12th Ligue 1 title and their 10th in the past 11 years.

Luis Enrique's side will now turn their attentions to winning the club's first Champions League trophy. They face Borussia Dortmund in the semi-finals next month.

Arsenal made a bitterly disappointing exit from the Champions League as they were beaten by Bayern Munich in a euphoric atmosphere at Allianz Arena.

Joshua Kimmich's powerful 63rd-minute header from Raphael Guerreiro's cross was enough to send the Germans through to the semi-finals 3-2 on aggregate after the two teams had drawn 2-2 in London in the first leg.

Despite being held at Emirates Stadium, Arsenal were confident of advancing against a Bayern Munich side who had endured a poor domestic season and were without key players Serge Gnabry and Kingsley Coman because of injury.

In a tight and cagey second leg, watched by Arsenal owner Stan Kroenke, Gabriel Martinelli had the best chance of the first half for the Gunners but shot straight at Manuel Neuer after Jamal Musiala had forced David Raya into a full-stretch save at the other end.

While Harry Kane had just nine touches in the opening 45 minutes, Neuer was forced into another save by Martin Odegaard's deflected attempt, which had the long-serving Bayern Munich keeper scrambling across his line.

With so much at stake for both teams, it was perhaps understandable chances were in limited supply but the second half was a livelier affair with Leon Goretzka heading against the post before Guerreiro's follow up was scrambled away by Raya, via the post.

But Kimmich's attacking header proved decisive and ensured Arsenal's wait to win the Champions League for the first time goes on.

Bayern will meet Real Madrid in the semi-finals after the record 14-time winners knocked out Manchester City on penalties.

"It's been a tough season for us," said England captain Kane, who scored in the first leg at Emirates Stadium.

"To reach the semi-finals is a great achievement for us and we can enjoy it. The expectation here is to try and win the Champions League."

Scotland's head of referees Crawford Allan is to leave his post at the end of the season as the Scottish FA conducts a review of the role in light of ongoing VAR controversies.

The governing body says Allan, who has been in the role for four years, is leaving "to pursue new opportunities".

SFA chief executive Ian Maxwell admits that "VAR processes need to improve".

He urged all parties to "work together to alleviate unsustainable pressure on match officials and VAR operators".

Maxwell wants "to remove the convenient blame culture attached to subjective or unpopular decisions and to ensure more focus is placed on the entertainers rather than the on-field facilitators".

He told the SFA website: "This includes all key external stakeholders having a better understanding of the laws of the game, the lines of intervention for VAR and the adopted guidance within Scottish football, especially in subjective areas such as the handball law."

The SFA has started its search to "ensure an experienced replacement will be in place for the new season".

"This will coincide with a planned review of the operational priorities of the department based on the insights to date from VAR implementation, as well as feedback from category one match officials and VAR operators, the Scottish FA's professional game board, the SPFL's competitions working group and the independent review panel," Maxwell added.

The chief executive thanked Allan for "his efforts in implementing VAR within Scottish football and guiding refereeing through the Covid-19 pandemic", describing the introduction of video assistant referee system as "a thankless task".

Allan considers it "an honour" to have been in charge "during such an historic period of change" following his 30 years as a match official, including 15 years in the top flight.

"While there are refinements and improvements to be made to VAR, as there are in leagues across the world, it has taken a monumental effort from my team at the Scottish FA and the match officials to have it embedded in the Premiership and cup matches at Hampden Park," he said.

"VAR is only one aspect of the role, albeit one that can overshadow the positive strides we have taken forward."

Dan James' first-half strike was enough to give promotion-chasing Leeds United victory over struggling Stoke City at Elland Road.

The win was Leeds' 10th in 11 league matches, but they had to withstand a spell of second-half pressure from the relegation-threatened visitors, who ended the match with 10 men after Ben Pearson was sent off late on.

And second-placed Ipswich coming from behind to beat Bristol City meant Daniel Farke's side remain third in the Championship table, two points behind the Tractor Boys and five behind leaders Leicester.

Stoke stay third from bottom and have now lost seven of their past nine matches.

Plenty might have expected a Liverpool love-in from Jamie Carragher after his beloved Reds' dramatic Carabao Cup final triumph over Chelsea.

But it was his sparring rival Gary Neville who put his Manchester United allegiances firmly to one side, lauding Liverpool - and criticising the beaten Blues.

"Klopp's kids against the blue billion-pound bottle-jobs," remarked the former England full-back on Sky Sports.

"This is Klopp's last few months [as Liverpool boss], but it will be as proud a moment as he's had."

Virgil van Dijk's header two minutes from the end of extra time settled a rollercoaster Wembley final as an injury-hit and youthful Liverpool lifted a record-extending 10th League Cup.

Liam Kitching helped Coventry City rescue a point at Plymouth Argyle in the dying seconds of the game as they maintained their pursuit of a Championship play-off spot.

The centre-back turned in Victor Torp's cross in the final minute of six added on at the end to bring City back from a goal down for the second time in the game.

Argyle took the lead after half-time through Morgan Whittaker's sweeping left-foot finish, before Ellis Simms forced home an equaliser for City.

Just three minutes after Coventry had levelled, substitute Mickel Miller sent a fizzing low ball in from the left and a deflection from Bobby Thomas beat goalkeeper Brad Collins.

But Kitching snatched a point for the Sky Blues at the death to move them up to sixth place on goal difference.

Plymouth are in 15th spot and eight points clear of the bottom three.

Relive Wednesday's Championship action
Whittaker netted in the 54th minute for the hosts with a first-time finish after Alfie Devine and Adam Randell had linked up well down the left.

The lead did not last long as Simms forced a strong save from Plymouth goalkeeper Conor Hazard that he could not turn to safety and Simms chested in the rebound.

Miller's cross then found a way past Brad Collins and Argyle seemed set for a third win in four games, only for Kitching's late goal to deny them.

But they were lucky to be level at the break as Matty Godden somehow headed wide from inside the six-yard box when completely unmarked as Jake Bidwell's cross from the left bounced up kindly for him.

Godden also went close just after the break when he beat the offside trap but couldn't beat Hazard with a low shot.

Full-back Milan van Ewijk also forced Hazard into a sharp save with a shot from outside the area that needed a strong arm to turn around the post.
