Our Salcombe shirt is featured in the latest issue of Gentleman’s Journal.

This first iteration of our Salcombe is in essence a beach shirt — although we have designed it to be as easily worn in parks, countryside or poolside or while fanning yourself in front of the tennis. Cut with a relaxed fit, the collar point is softly extended and unlined, so it falls easily rather than standing to attention. A single chest pocket: something to slip your sunglasses into on the way into lunch, something to keep them safe on the boat.

There are textiles made by machine, and there are textiles made by hand — and between those two things lies a world. Handloom Madras is woven on pit looms in Chennai, where the rhythm of shuttle and heddle has remained unchanged for centuries. The cloth carries that history in every thread. This season, we partnered with the Original Madras Trading Company — the last remaining weavers of authentic handloom Madras — to bring that tradition to Jermyn Street.
