The reality involves inordinate amounts of preparation, maintaining key relationships, liaison and negotiation, managing tight deadlines, thinking on your feet, reacting with authority and problem solving.

I'm Danielle Griffiths

I started working as a UK-based fashion stylist in 2001.

My editorial work has appeared in the country's leading fashion magazines and newspapers. I have styled for major advertising and music clients, while working alongside some of the world's best photographers.

Whilst working as a stylist I encountered one too many assistants who didn't know enough about the industry.

Not through any fault of their own, rather due to a lack of accessible information.

With that in mind I set about creating the Fashion Stylist's Handbook.

Since completing my book I have been invited to talk about fashion styling at The Fashion & Textile Museum, London, Condé Nast College Of Fashion & Design, London and MODESIGN Academy, Brussels. Including writing a course on 'The Business of Fashion Styling' for UIBS, Antwerp, whilst working as a freelance stylist for De Standaard Magazine, the weekend supplement to De Standaard, Belgium's leading quality newspaper.

Since early 2018 I have been a Visiting Lecturer at Condé Nast College Of Fashion & Design, teaching fashion styling.

As a creative consultant, I mentor new stylists as well as more experienced creatives, helping them to monetise their creativity:

I offer stylists paid work behind the scenes, as part of my dressing team at London Fashion Week

I empower and give control to stylists who run their own business with The Stylist’s Document Pack.

I give stylists access to the fashion industry with the PR packs which are contact lists of fashion PR agencies in NY, LDN, Milan & Paris.

I inspire and inform with in-depth courses on understanding the Freelance Industry

I give stylists the chance to sign up to my exclusive Fashion Membership A DRESS CODE

Why it's important to test. Testing is something that is ongoing - yes, if you have the jobs coming in, that's great. But never forget to test.

It's the art-form to what inspires you, what boundaries you want to push, what works, what doesn't. It's what keeps your styling fresh & ahead of the curve - plus it can bring in even better teams.

What is a TEST, I hear you ask?
It's where the photographer; the stylist; the model; the makeup artist; the hair stylist; all come together, and work as a team, FOR FREE and create a shoot.

Press Day at CiCi PR last week. Where I was lucky enough to interview the lovely founder of CiCi Pr Cristie Herbert.

Cristie was full of really incredible information about how stylists work with PRs; What makes a fantastic stylist to work with; and how, even if you are just starting out in styling - you are definitely able to work with PRs.

from this year?

Mine????

POSITIVES:
· Getting the LFW dressing gigs of SS22 - AND organising as many stylists as I could, to be involved with the events - plus, getting them paid for their work on the day! (Unheard of in fashion freelancing..)🙌

· Interviewing amazing industry experts for my membership A DRESS CODE - Thank you to all of those involved!!! 📸👘🎥
