Total Solar Eclipse, 11/8/1999. Newquay Cornwall. Lad’s first holiday.

I took this photo at 11am of my mates Glenn, Rich & Chinna mid eclipse. Cornwall was the only place in the UK that went completely dark as the moon passed the sun, so we went on a mission from Birmingham to go there and see it.

Though it looks like the middle of the night this was taken in the morning when the skies went black. It was a really eerie moment, it suddenly went cold and all the birds stopped singing.

Us being us we didn’t manage to get to any great vantage point to see it, this was outside our chalet on the Trevelgue Campsite.
