Date night on a balmy summer evening at Newman Arms. 🍴

This charming 18th century Fitzrovia pub, famous for its pies, was once frequented by the likes of George Orwell and Dylan Thomas.

Its recent renovation blends heritage with modern touches: a traditional red painted exterior with antique lanterns, and a cosy, characterful interior with original wood panelling, traditional sash windows and exposed brickwork alongside matte plaster walls.

We shared gordal olives and anchovies on sourdough, then a delicious wild mushroom pithivier alongside a heritage tomato salad, enjoyed with a bottle of rosé and the warm summer breeze drifting through the open windows.

We’ll be back - I bet a candlelit dinner at dusk is so cosy in winter. 🕯️

Another UNESCO World Heritage Site ✔️

We took a scenic boat ride to Kinderdijk when we were in Rotterdam recently, a village famous for its 18th century windmills. We wandered along the waterways dotted with 19 historic windmills, through a tranquil landscape that looks remarkably similar to how it must have done 200 years ago.

We climbed inside an original windmill built in 1738, tried walking in wooden clogs (Raphael’s still talking about the “difficult shoes”), had ice creams and then hopped back on the boat to Rotterdam. A wholesome day out at a peaceful, quintessentially Dutch spot. 🇳🇱

Have you visited the Summer Exhibition yet? ☀️

One of London’s most iconic cultural events is back at The Royal Academy of Arts in its 258th year, bringing together more than 1,800 works by 1,200 established artists and emerging talent.

I’ve seen, I think, 16 different productions of Swan Lake over the years, and the State Ballet of Georgia’s opening night at the London Coliseum this weekend was undoubtedly one of my favourites.

A truly classic classical ballet, this enchanting production from Nina Ananiashvili’s company remains true to the timeless beauty of Tchaikovsky’s original. If you have the chance to see the acclaimed State Ballet of Georgia while they’re in London (until 26 July), don’t miss it. 🦢

An RHS garden is always a good idea 🌼

Gorgeous summer afternoon with my two little kids and my mama, at RHS Harlow Carr in Harrogate. Betty’s lunch, grass to run around on, and ice cream in a heavenly garden. A happy day I’ll be looking back on in the depths of winter.
