Weave Focus: Plain

A plain weave is the simplest and most balanced of all weave structures: threads interlaced one over, one under, creating a clean, grid-like construction.
It’s strong, versatile, and used across wool, cotton, and linen.
Understanding weaves is essential. It determines how a cloth feels, how it wears, and how it performs whether you’re tailoring it, or choosing it.
A plain weave, for example, can offer a more open, breathable structure compared to twill or gabardine.
