And if you don’t, read this ⬇️
For years, whenever lingerie fitters told me, “You should always fasten your bra at the back,” I honestly thought: “Easy for you to say!” 😂
Because with a fuller bust, putting on a really supportive sports bra can already be a struggle.
The underband needs to be snug, and once it’s sitting underneath your breasts, there’s not exactly a lot of room to move it around.
So I would fasten it at the front and then turn it around.
And I kept thinking: there has to be a better solution. Maybe sports bras should simply be designed to fasten at the front?
What I didn’t realise at the time was that I was also lacking shoulder mobility.
It was only through yoga, training and mobility work that I started to realise how limited my shoulder movement had become — and that this was something I needed to work on for my overall mobility and health.
So reaching behind my back gradually became much easier.
And later, I also learned that twisting a properly fitted bra around your body isn’t necessarily the best way to put it on, because it can put unnecessary stress on the garment.
So now I understand why the fitters kept saying: “Fasten it at the back.” 😂
But I also understand why, for someone with a fuller bust and limited shoulder mobility, that advice can feel completely impossible at first.
If you have pain, an injury or a medical condition affecting your mobility, this obviously isn’t about forcing the movement.
But if you simply struggle with the movement, it might be worth asking yourself:
Is this really something my body can’t do?
Or is it something I just haven’t worked on in a while?
