An evening inside the music industry with Mike Smith; former Talent Scout at MCA Music Publishing, Director of A&R at EMI Music Publishing, Managing Director of Columbia Records, President of Mercury Records, President of Music at Virgin EMI and later Warner Chappell marking an illustrious career at the highest level of music.
Across a career spanning decades at the centre of global music culture, Mike has signed and developed artists including Mark Ronson, Calvin Harris, The White Stripes, Gorillaz, The Libertines, Katy B, Arcade Fire and Iggy Azalea, among many many others.
This conversation will explore the realities behind artist development, pressure, identity, reinvention and what it actually takes to survive at the highest levels of the music industry. No polish, just honest conversation.
