"The SkarletteĀ® is for strong women who aren’t defined by their breasts; confident women who know they can look great without showing lots of cleavage; mature women who know the love of their children and partners, family and friends isn’t dependent on having a pair of breasts and active women who enjoy exercise without the impingement of implants or prosthetics." Skarlette Limited was formed as a

result of me (Heather) having undergone a mastectomy as part of cancer treatment, and for one reason or another, reconstruction hasn't been possible or desired. Wearing prosthetics isn't the answer as these can be uncomfortable, so I choose not to. Along with many other women who find themselves in a similar position, I shared a common frustration; that is finding the lacy, racy lingerie worn prior to breast cancer. For some women, reconstruction isn’t possible or fails and for some women it is just not wanted and neither are prosthetics. But femininity remains hugely important. Feeling attractive and sexy as healing and recovery take place is essential for the repair of psychological well-being after such a grueling regime of treatment and experiences. The lack of any lingerie, which could fulfil the above, lead to the formation of Skarlette Limited. Kate joined me as my friend to help design and produce the concept which I had the ideas for based on my experience and that of other women in the same situation, and Kate had the creative capabilities based on many theatrical costume productions and it being her lifetime passion. This lead to many months of research and design resulting in the development of the perfect SkarletteĀ®, which can offer flat women the opportunity to get excited about purchasing lingerie again. SkarletteĀ® is strong; SkarletteĀ® is sensitive; SkarletteĀ® is sophisticated; SkarletteĀ® is sexy. SkarletteĀ® was "born" as a play on words as the look of this garment is similar to a bralette. Following the removal of both breasts, however, I now have scars, so our range of underwear was found it's name. It creates a way to feel feminine beneath your clothes and to demonstrate femininity when a little comes into view; to help you look and feel good. The SkarletteĀ® has the sexy lines and appearance of a bralette, without the pockets or darts to create a cup. It has soft and deep bands, which stretch and sit comfortably over the ribs where surgery and radiotherapy cause the tight bands of post-surgery bras to be uncomfortable. The SkarletteĀ® fastens like a bra rather than a bralette. This is to cater for women who have limited mobility following surgery, making pull-on lingerie difficult and uncomfortable to manoeuvre over stiff or sore shoulders. Skarlette Limited insists on British manufacturing -
Post-surgical lingerie for women who have suffered breast cancer has a well-deserved reputation for being rather dowdy and overpriced. Skarlette Limited feels passionate about resolving both of these issues. The foundation of Skarlette Limited was the design and manufacture of attractive and affordable lingerie for women who have undergone surgery to treat breast cancer. Thoughtfully created in colours and fabric rarely seen in post-surgical underwear ranges, the SkarletteĀ® is an exciting addition to the world of lingerie. Maintaining high quality and a more personal service is also fundamental to our values. We have a huge sense of pride in the SkarletteĀ®. Britain has a strong heritage of design and manufacturing and we imagine this adds value for our customers and you can be proud when purchasing your own ā€œBritish madeā€ SkarletteĀ®.
