Positive Change

I went to the seaside last week to meet my friend and former colleague Anna, we worked together at Asos.

Avid shoe people who were on the same wavelength from the moment we met, passionate about people, product and wanting to make positive change.

This coming Friday Anna and her business partner Dani open their store 'Positive Retail' in Ramsgate.

Anna came up with the name as there is so much negativity around retail and by selling preloved it's a huge positive for the circular fashion economy.

Having had a recent wardrobe sort, I took some pieces for them to sell on, a chance for a new chapter in that product's life.

Thanks it's rented.

My rental catalogues have launched on my website 🥳

It was my husband's idea. 2 years ago over dinner he said 'you should rent your wardrobe'. Your passion for people, rewearing and reusing means that you can share what you have alongside helping others to wear their own wardrobes and renting what they need.

Well, here we are! I have more pieces and catalogues to create but I've done it and it feels good. Renting clothes is a new way of consuming, a new way of dressing and it's all beneficial to our planet. I understand people will have questions, that's good and I am here to answer them. It’s an Isabel thing.

Isabel Marant is one of my favourite designers. Her handwriting is laid-back with a bohemian twist. There is a free-spirited feel to her style with an injection of something that makes her designs sing. Her pieces are easily recognisable, and you can always count on them, they are timeless. They allow me to express my true self as they are easy to wear.

My best friend, Hayley, is a real fan, and she certainly influenced me to wear more of her pieces. I find a few of my vintage purchases have been inspired by Isabel too.

You can rely on Isabel for an 80s vibe, a good shoulder, a high waisted peg trouser, a great embroidered blouse. A casual hoodie, an 80’s retro jacket, a quilted jacket, a wow piece of leather, [I’m taking a breath…] a good boot [she is renowned for her hidden wedge boot] and some studding. I have 19 of her pieces in my wardrobe, and I cherish and enjoy every single one of them. They are made to be worn and appreciated, and they never feel out of date.

A considered piece 💭
