Vintage Decorative Marquetry Mother Of Pearl Inlaid Syrian Style Side Table
This wonderful striking side table, inlaid with marquetry of warmly coloured woods, red gold and green patterns squares and outlines forming stars, suns or flowers depending on how your eyes interpret them. Inlaid with mother-of-pearl giving off her opal reflections it is an evocative example of traditional Syrian design.
This table stands out from all others I have been researching as it stands a little taller than most and is more of a square design rather than hexagonal.
Standing 30 inches tall.
The table top surface measured from corner to corner 13 inches square
The bottom smaller shelf measures 9 x 9 inches and looks to be affixed with relatively new eye screws and screws. The leg wdths are around 4cm wide.
I have photographed the piece in a way to show any blemishes, most of which are quite superficial light scratches or knocks to wood, varnish or paint edges as you can see, to be expected with the age of it. The table surfaces are the least effected being in superb condition really. There are four little chips to corners of leg edges mostly, one to the bottom of the table base as shown and the most predominant one on the top of the leg shown in the pics above the wooden peg which measures about a cm. Minor patches you may want or be able to fix but I thinks this piece over others I have looked at is in in excellent condition really with no need to restore unless thats your way.. I personally leave things like that alone or too experts.
