Gill UK

Gill UK Protecting adventurers from the elements since 1975 - 50 years of pioneering technology. Gill was an idea born on the water.

In 1975 our founder, Nick Gill, was a keen sailor who utilised his father’s factory in Nottingham to begin production of truly capable sailing apparel. Kit that could be both protective and comfortable. Still based in the UK, where we develop and test all our garments, we’ve grown to become one of the leading marine apparel brands in the world. We’ve equipped round-the-world teams when they’ve won

prestigious ocean races, as well as Olympians to get them on the podium. Inspired by our nautical heritage we’ve also developed lifestyle clothing that can be worn anywhere, but which is still engineered with a marine pedigree. Today our garments utilise a range of cutting-edge technologies, from XPLORE and XPLORE+ to XPEL our gear is designed to perform on and around the water.

Meet Gunnar – Gill Germany, Austria & Norway Country Manager, who last week swapped his desk for a Beneteau First 35 at the 43rd Peter Gast Shipping Regatta.

Now in its fifth decade, the regatta brings well over 100 yachts and around 1,000 sailors together for a 34-nautical-mile race from Schleimünde to the Danish island of Ærø

Despite only sailing together for the first time - onboard an unfamiliar boat - the team secured a 4th place finish

Congratulations Gunnar and crew 👏

One week to go 🌊

This time next week, Conrad Colman Ocean Racing and crew Megan Thomson, Aaron Hume-merry & Anna Merchant will be lining up for the start of The Ocean Race Atlantic.

It’s already been an eventful build-up. A damaged rudder on the delivery of MSIG Europe meant their stop in Newport was busier than planned, with the boat lifted out and the crew getting straight to work on repairs.

One final week of preparations – first getting MSIG Europe to New York, then taking on the Atlantic when the race starts on 1st September.

Good luck, Conrad and team. We’ll be following every mile.

From Germany to the Greek islands The Saltmates swapped life on land for life on the water, and they haven't looked back since.

We caught up with this family of four ahead of their Mediterranean summer to talk route planning, life aboard as a family, and what it takes to feel ready for an Atlantic crossing.

New team, new challenge, same drive for Conrad Colman Ocean Racing 🌊

Most of Conrad's career has been solo – two Vendée Globes and long ocean races on his own. Now he's lining up for The Ocean Race Atlantic with an all-Kiwi crew of Megan Thomson, Anna Merchant and Aaron Hume-Merry – alongside onboard report Georgia Schofield – join forces with Conrad as they prepare for their first IMOCA miles.

We're excited to extend our long-term partnership with Conrad and MSIG Europe. The crew departs New York on 1 September, fully kitted for whatever the Atlantic throws at them.

We can't wait 👊

The 80th Anniversary Firefly Championship has come to a close after a week of hard sailing and socialising at Tenby Sailing Club.

It has been a week of smiles, sunshine, laughter and some great racing – a true celebration of what is making the class so popular with young and old alike.

After the wind failed to show on the final day, it was Ben Whaley and Rhona Enkel who added their name to the illustrious list of Firefly Champions. Closely followed by Steve Tylecoate and Tasha Armstrong – who first competed together at the nationals in 1994.

Congratulations to all the winners. 🔗 Read the full story here: https://brnw.ch/21x4X4f
