3 Peaks Challenge:
Snowdon - The Final Ascent

You know the score by now, 2 lads climbing a mountain. This time, we've got a dog.

The final peak of this endeavour was a fairly moist and equally challenging trek. The Welsh weather lived up to its reputation - wet, windy, and wild.

The rain tried to dampen our spirits by slapping us in the face for an hour but was unsuccessful.

Snowdon is stunning. Rugged ridge lines dissapearing into the clouds, waterfalls at every turn. Even with tired legs and soggy socks, it's hard not to appreciate the beauty of the place.

This challenge wasn't completed in 24 consecutive hours. We completed it in just under 25 non-consecutive hours. We've been tested physically and mentally, but it reminds me why we started Spartan in the first place. To support hard work, determination, and purpose.

Take this as your reminder to finish what you've started, and get s**t done. Even if it takes longer than you thought.

3 Peaks Challenge - Part 2: Scafell Pike

Scafell is tougher than it looks, and it looks pretty damn tough.

This one tested me physically and mentally, Scafell is steep, relentless, and rough underfoot. The views are unreal, but it was the mission that kept us going.

Even though Scafell is the smallest of the 3 national peaks, I'd say it's the hardest. 978m of steep rocky slopes, deep brush and tall grass, the terrain is what makes this one such a challenge.

The view was incredible, but the mountain bit back. Coming down Scafell was even harder than going up, and as we neared the end of the descent, I jarred my knee and couldn't put any weight on it. This time, I wouldn't have made it back without my companion and fellow Spartan. Thank you, brother Ryan. 🙏

And a massive thank you to our getaway driver, Neil. 👊🏼

We paused the challenge with 7 hours to go, around 22:30, and drove home. We planned to head to Snowdon after some deserved rest, and this time with some reinforcements. 🐶

The 3 Peaks Challenge - Part 1: Ben Nevis 🏔

Kicking off the challenge with the notorious Ben Nevis, the tallest mountain in the UK. Standing at 1,345m, this beast didn't make it easy, but we had the weather and determination on our side.

Some words from our founder:

We began at 05:30, with a steady pace and a backpack full of bananas and flapjacks. By 06:30 my companion was doubting himself, he told me to go on without him, I watched from above as he retreated.

A few hours into the ascent, I met another climber - yellow bag man. It turned out that he had completed the 3 peak challenge 30 years ago! He assured me I was making good time... I stopped for a flapjack and then started running.

As I neared the peak, I accidentally veered from the path and was forced to clamber up a cliff face of loose rock and snow, about 1100m up. I then remembered I'm a bit scared of heights.

I reached the peak just before 08:00, and was met with a breathtaking view. Here, I met a couple of fellow adventurers, Chris and Sarah. They took my picture at the peak, donated to the cause, AND gifted me a chocolate bar. Legends.

Fudge tastes better at 1,345m above sea level.
