British Flowers Week 🌸🌷🌼🌺

A little note of appreciation to all the flower growers here in the UK, because what you do is quite simply remarkable.

It’s one thing to love flowers. It’s another thing entirely to grow them and build a business around them when so much is beyond your control. The weather, pests, disease, fluctuating costs, changing seasons and all the other challenges that come with working alongside nature. Honestly, I am in constant awe of what you do.

Every stem represents months of planning, nurturing, patience and care. And because of that, you bring so much beauty, joy and wonder into the world.

In a world that often wants everything instantly, growers remind us that some of the most beautiful things still take time.

As a florist, I know I couldn’t do what I do without you. The flowers I work with every day begin their journey in your fields, tunnels and cutting gardens, and I will always do everything I can to champion and support British-grown flowers.

Many of our growers are small independent businesses too, and local support makes such a difference.

So if you’re a British flower grower, please say hello in the comments and let us know where you’re based. You never know who might discover their new favourite local flower farm today. 🌿🌹✨

Have you ever dreamt of being a florist? Or wanted to learn the fundamentals of floristry so you can create arrangements for your home?

On the 18th Sept I am opening the doors of my studio for a small group floristry workshop designed especially for beginners.

Together we will spend the day immersed in beautiful seasonal flowers as I guide you through the art of creating a hand-tied bouquet and a stunning summer tablescape. Throughout the day you will learn the foundations of floristry, flower care and a selection of wiring techniques used by professional florists. You will leave with new skills, fresh confidence and beautiful arrangements to take home and enjoy.

If this sounds like something for you, I would love you to join me and find your way with the flowers. A link to book is in my bio https://stan.store/Theflowerfairies/p/an-introduction-to-floristry-workshop

You never know where this first step may take you on your flower journey 🙂🌷

This month represents something the flower world calls The May Gap, that in-between season where spring begins to fade but the abundance of summer hasn’t quite arrived yet.

A transition season that can sometimes feel a bit awkward, one not quite finished, another not quite yet started. I was writing a piece for my Substack - “The Flower Field” on seasonal varieties and I started to reflect on how this May Gap teaches us something else, I realised life often feels like this too.

A holding season.
A waiting season.
An in-between season.

So often we are waiting, for clarity, for healing, for confidence, for growth, for things to bloom again.

And perhaps nature reminds us that there is beauty here too, not loud, overflowing abundant beauty that summer brings but quiet, tender beauty that asks us to slow down and pay attention.

And so often when we slow down we find more in the present than we expect.

I’ve written a full reflection on seasonal flowers, the waiting seasons and learning not to rush ourselves into full bloom over on The Flower Field today 💕🌸

“The Beauty of the May Gap” is now live in The Flower Field, if you fancy a read of the full article you can find it via the link in my bio x

I discovered this week that beauty is registered in the same part of the brain as food and love. I found this little insight fascinating, that the two things we need to survive are processed by the brain in the same way we do beauty…my conclusion is that we are wired to take in beauty as part of our daily needs. Beauty is not frivolous or a nice to have, it’s actually essential.

So to all the creatives out there that sometimes hang back, for thinking your work doesn’t have an impact. It really does! we all need the beauty you create more than ever 💗

So here’s my contribution to your daily beauty intake, aren’t those little bleeding hearts “Dicentra” like tiny works of art in their own right….they literally blow my mind 🤍

This was a demo bouquet from one of the studio sessions early this week. If you would like to book some time with me to develop your bouquet technique you can find all the details via the link in my bio x

Pricing is one of the biggest challenges I see florists face, especially when you’re building.

Not because you don’t care.
And not because you’re not capable.

But because it’s rarely just about the numbers.

It’s influenced by so many things:
– fluctuating flower costs
– lack of a clear structure
– inconsistent demand
– uncertainty around your value
– and the fear of losing bookings

And when the bookings aren’t coming, it’s so easy to land on one conclusion:

“It must be my pricing.”

But often, it’s not that simple.

Sometimes it’s:
– visibility
– clarity in your offer
– trust
– positioning
– or simply timing

Because pricing doesn’t sit on its own, it sits within your whole business model.

Lowering your price might feel like the quickest fix, but it doesn’t always solve the real problem.

What does help is having:
✨ structure in how you price
✨ clarity in what you’re actually charging for
✨ confidence in the decisions you’re making

This is why I’ve created a Pricing Guide & Template because I know how challenging it can be. I have built all my experience into this as well as an excel template that not only allows you to establish your pricing, but also builds your flower orders so you can see exactly what room you have for contingencies or buffer. This will empower you to make decisions that will also stop you from under or over ordering. You will find this inside the paid membership part of The Flower Field ~ The Secret Garden

It’s designed to help you:
– understand what you’re really pricing
– build a clear, repeatable approach
– factor in time, costs and sustainability
– and feel more confident in your numbers

Alongside this, I am also running a live webinar (replay will be available) 30th April 2pm where I go deeper into these challenges and how to navigate them. There will be a Q&A session too 😊

Please know that if you subscribe on a monthly basis you can cancel at any time so if pricing is the one thing you need support with this months resources will give you the clarity and structure you might just need.

You can find everything via the link in my bio but please feel free to message me with any questions x

An Easter bouquet 🌸💫💛🌷

Made in awe of divine creation,
knowing He knew we would need the flowers.
Made as a small, humble act of worship,
in gratitude for the one who bore the weight of the world.

Because we have hope.
Because we can carry peace in our hearts.
Because the story ends in love,
and in the generous, abundant gift of grace.

An Easter bouquet

…a small offering, in celebration of a love that never fails 💝

Happy Easter to you all ###

Hello, and welcome if you are new here!

I have been talking a lot this past week about the importance of connecting with the person behind the flowers…so I figured I should practice what I preach and show up a little more ☺️

For those who are new here, I thought it might be helpful to share a little of the back story, the one behind the flowers.

I have spent more than 20yrs working with flowers. For a long time that meant weddings and events, creating arrangements for some of the most meaningful days in people’s lives. And I LOVED it at the time. There was nothing quite like that moment of handing over a bridal bouquet and seeing someone’s face light up.

Over time, my work began to shift. I found myself drawn more to teaching and to sharing what I had learned along the way. Then last year I stepped away for a while, thinking I might be finished with floristry altogether.

This space became somewhere I shared beauty just for myself. I realised how important it was to create without expectation.

But slowly I realised that what I loved most wasn’t just the flowers….it was helping others find their way with them. I missed the connection with those who shared the same love and passion for flowers and it drew me back.

These days my work is quieter and slower. I’ve learned to step away from the hustle and find a way of working that allows me to nurture my own creativity whilst also sharing it with others.

I now spend much of my time mentoring new and growing florists, as well as growers wanting to expand their floristry skills. And I’ve also found my way into teaching those who simply want to nurture their own creativity. Alongside this I offer small bespoke 1-1 workshops here in my studio, often focused as much on confidence as technique.

And then there is my new project and passion, I have begun building something called The Flower Field, an online space for florists, growers and flower lovers to learn, be encouraged & inspired at their own pace. It’s early days but I am excited for what I hope it can become.

Thank you for being here and following along, I know some of you have been here from the beginning! I really do appreciate you all 🧡

There's something about beauty that takes our breath away. Perhaps it's no coincidence that appreciating beauty affects our breathing, which in turn helps calm our nervous system. We're designed to notice and appreciate beauty because it benefits us. Heres a little reset for you ###x
