Corset made from recycled inflatable pool ♻️

Previously i played around with corset patterns and found cotton wasn’t the right pit for structure. Moving further i decided to use unconventional material such as pvc to see how it would better the structure on the bodice.

The pattern changed slightly but i’m obsessed with the colour and texture the material brings, almost creating a faux animal skin feel.

Cotton corset ♻️

This was my first attempt making patterns that hugged the body, accentuating movement in the body with the contrast of paper. Exploring different patterns and the way they look 2d > mannequin was interesting and give me a lot of thought about layering intersecting patterns enhancing designs. Cartridge paper doesn’t quite work the way pattern paper does but it’s interesting to see the structure cartridge paper holds making it quite easy to see where darting should take place.

After playing around with cartridge i took my design to recycled cotton which stumbled me a little. Cotton has a similar looseness as pattern paper whereas i experimented with cartridge. You can see how the cotton doesn’t structure as well as hoped but this opens doors to other fabrics i could use with structure or even layering fabrics to make the structure needed to support the bodice.

Corset recycled from pop up paddling pool ♻️

This was a very exciting project for me, reusing unconventional material to make something new ! Little did i know how hard this material would be to pin and see together, however playing around with manipulating the material adding texture was something i really enjoyed 😊
