Stamford and Peterborough Sling Library Mission Statement
Stamford and Peterborough Sling library has been set up in response to a local need for those who wish to carry their baby in a safe and supportive sling or baby carrier. These slings/carriers encourage positive spinal and hip positioning. Parents and guardians can find out which slings and carriers are available to them and will most suit
their needs. The aims of Stamford and Peterborough Sling library are to:
Enable parents/carers to try (with the option to hire) a sling or carrier that suits their needs and lifestyle with the help of a fully qualified babywearing consultant or a babywearing peer supporter. Share the benefits of baby wearing, some of which have recently been highlighted and acknowledged by organisations such as the NHS and the NCT with the local & larger online community. Offer information in the form of professional advice, literature, demonstrations, workshops and consultations about safe carrying that supports a baby / toddler’s developing spine and hips. As a by-product of holding library events and sling meets we envisage that a supportive community of babywearers will emerge within the local community and that babywearing will become more accessible and acceptable to people from all backgrounds in the local area.
