➡️ C SECTION AWARENESS MONTH - What will your c section scar look like?

These amazing c section mamas kindly allowed me to share photos of their scars last year so I am reposting so you can see how everyone heals differently and the different stages of recovery:

You will usually have a horizontal scar between 10-20cm long, just below your bikini line.

You will have a dressing over your scar for the first 5 days and then a midwife will remove it and check how it looks.

Your wound will take around 6 weeks to heal and the redness and scar itself will fade in time.

To minimise any risk of infection you can do the following:

Clean the incision daily; allow soap and water to run down your incision while showering or wash gently with a cloth.

Wear loose fitting clothing. You can buy high waisted knickers from any shop rather than splashing out on c section knickers. Pick a few sizes bigger for comfort. (I am typically a size 10 but wore size 16 as was still swollen)

Don’t exercise or lift anything heavier than your baby. This could cause your incision to reopen.

Applying heat to your abdomen after a c section can ease pain and soreness.

Take painkillers to ease any discomfort and pain. If you have been given stronger pain relief at the hospital, ease yourself off this slowly when you start to feel better.

Feeling itchy is a normal part of the healing process and could be from your p***c hair growing back if it was shaved for surgery. Try not to scratch your scar.

Seek medical advice if you get any of these symptoms:

Severe pain, swelling or redness around the scar
Pus oozing from the wound
Heavy bleeding or discharge
Pain when urinating
Fever

Happy International Women's Day!

Let's celebrate all the incredible things women do today and inspire the next generation to dream big and know they can achieve anything they want.

Being a mum of girls, the world feels a scary place right now with so much emphasis on the way women look and I really want to raise my daughters to feel happy and comfortable just being their authentic amazing selves. To know they are loved no matter what they do and encourage them to build connections with other amazing kind women who will support them.

I know I am lucky to have incredible women around me and since starting Cheeky Little Smiles, I have met so many wonderful small business owners who I'd love to celebrate. Please tag any other female run businesses and I'll share them in my stories today.

The most amazing day! 🎉

Still feels surreal that last June, selected my business, Cheeky Little Smiles as an Small Business Sunday winner.

Last Friday, I got the chance to collect my award and meet Theo himself, which was just incredible.

Every year the put on a fully funded fantastic event, where winners get to meet, network and learn from each other, not to mention the inspiring speakers on stage.

I'm so grateful for my award and feeling very lucky right now.
