Sometimes, life turns out a little differently than you expected…

I left my teaching career a few years ago to build something else.

But there was still a part of me that knew this was something I could do. If you’d told me at the start that I’d now be regularly teaching workshops with a growing community, I probably wouldn’t have believed you!

And my online course is getting such wonderful results - not only from adults, but also young people! I was really blown away this weekend when exhibiting at North Yorkshire Open Studios, to have a visit from a family who had bought my online course for their 3 children to do. They came to show me the results, and I am so impressed with them!

One of my favourite birds has to be the puffin! They are so cheeky, and have the most wonderful colours too. I also love that they are often referred to as ‘clowns of the sea’ which just seems so apt!

They are also really wonderful to draw, and I’d love to invite you to join me at one of 2 puffin workshops this summer:

I’ll be taking you through all my steps and favourite techniques for drawing an adorable puffin! The workshops are suitable for both complete beginners, and those with some experience wanting to develop their coloured pencils techniques.

Rescheduled from a couple of weeks ago due to family circumstances, there is now another opportunity to come and draw some swifts and swallows with me!

Join me in York on Saturday 30th May, 1:30 - 4:30pm, to draw swifts and swallows and learn more about these birds and conservation of them.

🌿Saturday 30th May - Friargate, York, 1:30 - 4:30pm

A cosy studio space looking out onto a lovely city centre garden.

🌿The workshop is suitable for complete beginners as well as those with a little more experience! All materials and provided, as well as lovely homemade cakes, tea and coffee.

🌿I’ll show you my favourite techniques for using coloured pencils to create some realistic looking birds!

I’m never sure whether to share such personal news on here, but, many of you have become such wonderful friends to me that I thought it was only right.

Sadly, my dad passed away yesterday morning. Myself, mum and brother were all with him at home. It was peaceful for him, and although our world has just become a little darker, we are glad that he isn’t suffering anymore.

He was a man who had such a huge impact on so very many people, serving others faithfully throughout his entire life.

I know that he was proud of me, and I hope he knew how proud I was to call him my dad.

Thank you for being such a wonderful man - we love you dad ###
