I love September. The chaos of back to school balanced with the excitement of hunkering down, rainy days, wet muddy dog walks and slow Sundays with pub lunch thrown in the mix.
I’m getting better each year at really leaning into the slowness and resisting the urge to forge ahead a hundred mile an hour. Easier said than done when you have a business that really needs to start Christmas planning in August.
Not this year.
This year will be slow, intentional and considered, just like my jewellery.
I feel like I’ve blinked and my ‘baby’ has turned 10, starting year 6 tomorrow, with school entrance exams just around the corner. It’s been on the horizon for so long, yet crept up on me and knocked me for six a little. The whole point of starting my business was to spend more time with my boy, yet this Summer hasn’t been as enjoyable as I’d hoped and I’ve felt a strange kind of grief for the speed at which he’s growing up.
Work has been busy, stressful and I’ve not struck the right balance.
The mum guilt is real, and it really is a rotten feeling knowing that you’re not giving your best to anything because you’re spread too thinly. My heart broke a little each day when my boys face dropped when I told him I had to work.
I have an exciting mini launch coming soon (sign up to the inner circle newsletter to hear about it first), but this Christmas I’m slowing down and remembering what I’m doing all of this for 🫶
