Great workshop today for my mum and her best friend and daughters.

Mum and ‘Aunty’ Pam have been best friends from being 11, so when they turned 70 the same month and my ‘cousins’ suggested a private family workshop I jumped at the chance!

Lots of fun was had, and Simba was happy to see his original mum (my cousin has Simba’s mum)

I love September. The chaos of back to school balanced with the excitement of hunkering down, rainy days, wet muddy dog walks and slow Sundays with pub lunch thrown in the mix.

I’m getting better each year at really leaning into the slowness and resisting the urge to forge ahead a hundred mile an hour. Easier said than done when you have a business that really needs to start Christmas planning in August.

Not this year.

This year will be slow, intentional and considered, just like my jewellery.

I feel like I’ve blinked and my ‘baby’ has turned 10, starting year 6 tomorrow, with school entrance exams just around the corner. It’s been on the horizon for so long, yet crept up on me and knocked me for six a little. The whole point of starting my business was to spend more time with my boy, yet this Summer hasn’t been as enjoyable as I’d hoped and I’ve felt a strange kind of grief for the speed at which he’s growing up.
Work has been busy, stressful and I’ve not struck the right balance.

The mum guilt is real, and it really is a rotten feeling knowing that you’re not giving your best to anything because you’re spread too thinly. My heart broke a little each day when my boys face dropped when I told him I had to work.

I have an exciting mini launch coming soon (sign up to the inner circle newsletter to hear about it first), but this Christmas I’m slowing down and remembering what I’m doing all of this for 🫶

Molten rings. Gold or silver?

The perfect alternative wedding ring, but an equally beautiful every day ring.

Which would you choose?

I found something very special, the original receipt for my Nana’s engagement ring.

That little piece of paper has survived for almost 80 years! Sadly, my grandparents died many years ago, within 8 weeks of eachother, and just 6 months shy of their 60th wedding anniversary.

I’ll never know the full story of the ring. Did grandad pick it himself and surprise her with it or did they choose it together? I don’t recall ever seeing the ring so have no idea what it looked like, or where it is now, but I’m sure it was chosen with excitement and hope for the future just a few short years after the war.

This is why I love jewellery so much, it often isnt just something beautiful you buy and wear, it becomes part of your story.

Whether it’s a commitment ring from a loved one, the necklace your mum gave your, or the earrings you bought yourself to mark a new chapter, every piece has a story.

Come and share in the comments your favourite piece and the story behind it 🫶

It’s been a tough year in business, so to even get this far with recognition is incredible.
