In some of the more remote islands off our coasts, the legend has it that if the little folk wanted to bless a human child they wove a shawl made of the finest cobwebs, decorated it with dew and sprinkled it with love. This shawl would not only keep the baby warm, but would also shield the child from evil spirits and hurtful thoughts. Sometimes a mother who did not find such a magical gift at the
end of her baby's crib, would knit the finest shawl that she could, passing it through her wedding ring to show that it was too fine to be made by human hands. In this way she could show the rest of the island that her child was as favoured as those who has received a gift from the little folk. It often seemed there was a little magic in those shawls too! We can make a shawl especially for your lovely baby; and although we cannot guarantee that it will have any magical properties; we will make it with love (and pass it through a wedding ring... just in case!)
Each shawl is hand made and no two are identical, we try to have a range of colours and sizes in stock but these will vary. Please look through our collections to see if we have anything currently in stock that would suit your baby. If you see something you like, drop us an email, we can check that it is in stock and send you a paypal invoice so that your payment it secure. We also offer a custom knit service, so if you see the perfect style but don't want a pink shawl for your new baby boy, we can make a similar shawl just for you. Please bear in mind that custom shawls have a longer delivery time and a slightly higher cost as they are made to order, and may take up to three months to reach you during busy times.
