After seeing Hockney’s work, I felt inspired to simply sit, look and really observe.

So I found a spot in Hyde Park and painted. The grasses, colours in the trees, light and dark in the water, the fountain splashes, the longer I looked, the more I saw.

There’s something so special about not just painting a place, but recording a moment of being there.

And now I’m wondering how these little sketchbook moments might one day become something much bigger… 🌿🎨

For this project, the original artwork and photography became the starting point for a panoramic landscape created specifically for the room.

When Working with interior designers, we are able to consider not only the artwork itself, how it would sit within the wider scheme. its scale, palette, architectural placement and relationship with the furniture and furnishings.

Visualisation is an invaluable part of this process. It allows an idea to be seen in context before it is realised, giving both designer and client the confidence to make decisions about scale, colour and composition.

The finished roomset shows the transformation: from photograph of a place to an original piece of artwork to an immersive landscape that becomes part of the of the room.

When the artwork is considered as part of the interior from the beginning, rather than added at the end, the result can feel completely integrated, individual to the room.

I left Paint! Pattern! Print! Fashion and Textile Museum feeling not only inspired by colour and creativity. But optimistic about my own future in this career.

The colour, hundreds of paintings, expressive marks. Seeing how hand-painted artwork travelled from paper into pattern, fabric and interiors. 🌿🎨

But what stayed with me most was Sarah Campbell story.

There was something about her career, her ambition and her determination to develop a creative handwriting that was recognisably her own that felt very familiar.

Sometimes seeing someone else’s journey makes your own direction feel a little clearer. Sure we’re in a different time now but Sarah and her sister faced their own challenges when setting up their own business just like today.

Sarah and her sister took a chance and made it happen for themselves. But not by jumping straight in, they developed their practice working for the top design companies and made their name known.

I left thinking: keep painting, keep developing, keep going.

I’m already on the journey.

This Sip & Paint hosted by my lovely friend Linda Hodgson Design who I met through The Collective

Of course I wanted to go and support her, but I was also really curious to see how she taught. I already knew how talented she was, and I thought I could learn a few pointers!

And this was definitely just Sip & Paint. 😂

Linda really taught us how to build a painting.
Layering colours, adding depth and using different techniques to gradually create this beautiful meadow.

Even as someone who paints all the time, I came away having learnt something new about the way another artist approaches paint.

I think that’s one of the loveliest things about building connections with other creatives. We show up for each other, share what we know, learn from one another and hopefully all become better at what we do along the way.

Recently, I joined a creative coaching group amongst other talented artists and makers that really inspired me and encouraged me.

we have all learnt a lot from each other and helped each other with creative blocks and fortunate to have met them.

we each entered a piece into the open exhibition something that is very new to me but also excited me and pushed me to submit a piece of work out interview for people to see even if I didn’t believe it was worthy. It is all part of the process to build confidence in what we do.

If you paint, then you are an artist. You have to believe it first.

Bit late posting this but I just managed to find a copy of Mays issue featuring a design from the Fiori e Lioni collection I designed with

Much of this collection has found its way into multiple publications including best in class for ,New years honours for and featured in and, to name a few!

Great work by the team to achieving so many features for this collection!

Can confirm… painting is easier than filming it 😂

Every time I see those perfectly satisfying artist reels, I think, “I can do that.”

My arm blocks the camera, I miss the best bit, and somehow the tape peel is the least satisfying thing you’ve ever watched and more painful than satisfying.
